You’re going to want to pre-order this Magic: The Gathering x Lord of the Rings set faster than you can spell PO-TA-TOE.

The shared metaverse of IP crossovers continues to grow, as Hasbro's Universes Beyond line of MTG cards announced a Magic: The Gathering x Lord of the Rings set today. What Fornite began years before, other games and franchises are now dipping their own toes into these potentially profitable waters. The draft and straight-to-Modern MTG x LOTR set releases June 23, 2023 and will feature a number of products across the Magic line.

If you're still on the fence about this set, you may want to figure things out in a hurry. The set was part of announcement last fall that included other franchises coming to MTG such as Assassin's Creed and Final Fantasy. So, fans have had a while to contemplate how hard they plan on going in for a LOTR set.

MTG x LOTR = $$$

The Lord of the Rings franchise is no stranger to collectible card games, but this new venture with Magic: The Gathering is a whole other animal. MTG parent company Hasbro has been lightly accused in the past years of maybe bleeding the stone dry. This included a stock estimate in which the Bank of America has accused Hasbro of “killing its golden goose."

Surely that's nonsense. Anyways, do you have a spare 400 dollarbucks laying around?

If you thought this once in a lifetime crossover would come cheap then you truly know nothing about Magic: The Gathering. Here's the listed products so far, as well as some good faith estimates on prices (in USD) thanks to Amazon:
