Iron Galaxy just hit the gaming world with a big blow, as the company announced mass layoffs within their company.

In another wave of inevitable layoffs within the gaming community, Iron Galaxy, known for their work on Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 & 4, have taken to LinkedIn to announce they will be laying off a good portion of their team as they reduce the company size.

Here is what we know.

Iron Galaxy announce layoffs in LinkedIN post

Iron Galaxy, known for their game development and ports (the company that helped bring Overwatch to the Nintendo Switch), have taken to LinkedIn to announce layoffs within the company.

“A number of teammates and friends are losing their jobs as we adjust to a new company structure,” said Iron Galaxy on LinkedIn. “We are terribly sorry to lose them as we take steps to adapt to the climate of the video game industry. It’s time for us to evolve again.”

Despite the market for video games continuously growing, it would seem as if these layoffs are completely unavoidable, as many companies within the last few years have had to make huge cut, including a recent announcement of mass layoffs from Epic Games.

“Players consume games in new ways. Publishers have different criteria for investing in the development of games. This new normal has impacted all our partners. As Iron Galaxy adapts, we must make painful decisions about what we can be as a company. It’s impossible for us to sustain the team size that we’ve carried this past year, even after our downsizing from last year.”

This is a massive blow for the gaming community, as Iron Galaxy has had a huge hand in various ports and more. Hopefully, the layoffs will not affect the future of this company too much.

About Iron Galaxy

Founded in 2008, Iron Galaxy has been a staple within the video game development world. Their work on Tony Hawk Pro Skater games and more put their name on the map, ensuring they were at the height of the video game world (at one time, at least).

The company has also helped port various games, such as Overwatch for the Nintendo Switch and Last of Us for PC.

Their work within the gaming community has not gone unnoticed, and seeing so many employees lose their job today has left many gutted.
