Link had some pretty unlikely and powerful sidekicks, but which ones were the best?

Link has always teamed up with a sidekick in the majority of The Legend of Zelda games, whether he liked it or not. Some sidekicks were not fan favorites, but some went down in history as some of the best characters in gaming. Here is a list of the best five sidekicks in The Legend of Zelda series.

5. Fi

Fi, who was introduced in Skyward Sword, quickly became a favorite amongst gamers. Her love for and devotion to Link was unmatched, especially with her transformation into the Master Sword. Even if you weren't a huge fan of the ally, you cannot deny her vital purpose within the timeline. The Master Sword is the most legendary blade ever to be wielded, and Fi is literally the only reason that weapon exists.

4. Navi

Although some consider her a bit annoying, you cannot deny that the "Hey! Look! Listen!" sound is one of the most iconic sounds in all of gaming. With Ocarina of Time's popularity, and game-changing graphics and mechanics, Navi quickly became a fan favorite. The fairy helped Link in any way possible. She even stuck with him through his seven years of being asleep within the Temple of Time. I mean, what other sidekick would do that?

Navi will always go down in history as one of the best sidekicks in The Legend of Zelda.

3. The King of Red Lions

The King of Red Lions is an easy pick to join our list of the top five best sidekicks in The Legend of Zelda. Introduced in The Wind Waker, The King of Red Lions was a boat that talked to Link and sailed him around the great sea covering Hyrule. Later on, players discovered that The King of Red Lions was actually the original king of Hyrule, making him one legendary character.

The King of Red Lion's resilience and devotion to Link is a perfect reason why it makes our list of the five best sidekicks.

2. Midna

Next, Midna easily makes the top of our list of the best sidekicks in The Legend of Zelda. Known as one of the darker games in the series, she was introduced in Twilight Princess. She came from the world of Twilight and ended up being the most unlikely ally for Link. Almost killing herself in the process, she even put her entire self before Link to protect him from the terrible foe, Ganondorf.

The character is a powerful and inspiring ally.

Epona deserves to hold the title of number one on our list of the best sidekicks in The Legend of Zelda. The legendary horse has been carrying Link on her back since the beginning. Epona can be found in multiple different games like Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, Breath of the Wild, and more. Despite all the horrors Link has had to face, Epona has always carried him forward, fighting his battles alongside him.

She will always be the greatest sidekick in The Legend of Zelda. There is no debate.
