Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) is one of the most popular battle royale titles in the South Asian country. If you don't have the game installed on your device, you can do so by manually downloading the APK and OBB files.
While BGMI was blocked by India’s ministry of electronics and IT on July 29, 2022, Krafton has still kept the servers open and people can play the game. Currently, the only effect of the block order by the Indian government is that the game has been removed from the Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store.
Users can download BGMI by using the APK and OBB files. Here is how you can do that.
How to download BGMI with APK and OBB files on Android devices?
You need to download BGMI’s APK and OBB files by using the links below.
Once the files have been downloaded, follow the steps listed below:
- Click on the BGMI APK file to begin the installation process. You may need to allow installations from unknown sources to do this. This can be done through the settings.
- Wait for the APK to finish installing.
- Once this is done, copy the OBB file to the following location: Android > OBB > com.pubg.imobile.
You can now open BGMI and enjoy the battle royale title. Before doing that, however, you may still need to download additional content such as maps and texture packs in the game.
The future of the game seems uncertain
While you can currently play BGMI by downloading the APK and OBB files, the game has been blocked by India’s ministry of electronics and IT. An exact reason behind this hasn’t been revealed, though. A Reuters report, however, said that it was because of alleged data sharing with China.
The ministry recently confirmed that it was in communication with Krafton. It remains to be seen if the game is brought back.
As a result of the blockage, no new updates are coming to BGMI as well. The game is stuck on Update 2.1, which was released in July 2022. Meanwhile, the global version of BGMI, called PUBG Mobile, has jumped on to Update 2.2 which has brought a lot of new features, including a brand-new battle royale map called Nusa.
