NARAKA: BLADEPOINT caster Zhazha wore an all-black look on a stream, receiving online flak. Here's why she did it.

Zhazha, a Chinese Naraka: Bladepoint caster and commentator, showed up in all-black during a broadcast of the NARAKA: BLADEPOINT Pro League 2026 (NBPL) Spring Season. This came after she received criticism online for her revealing outfits, and did so as a statement that she is choosing what she wears. But, there is another reason for her chosen look: the NARAKA: BLADEPOINT community itself.

Zhazha shows up in full black as a statement: “I wanted to debunk the statement that we are forced to wear miniskirts.”

As said above, Zhazha is one of the casters for the NBPL Spring 2026 Season. Throughout the broadcasts, viewers kept commenting on her outfit and legs.

The narrative among netizens was that production was forcing her to wear revealing outfits and that her legs were turning purple from sitting with her legs crossed for extended periods to prevent wardrobe malfunctions. They compared how the male caster was sitting comfortably.

Finally, the glass table was also reflective, and could show angles up her skirt at times.

Then she showed up on the broadcast in all black — even her face was painted. Screengrabs from this stream then made it outside China and made its rounds on social media. Many found her outfit to be disrespectful, some calling it outright racist due to being a form of blackface.

Zhazha’s response, apology: “If I have offended anyone, I sincerely apologize.”

Zhazha, on her personal account, responded to the netizens’ comments and apologized for offending people and explained that this wasn’t the case.

Some people have used footage from my live stream to make some unfounded speculations:

1. Regarding “legs turning blue and purple from being twisted into a pretzel for a long time”:

The reason is that the new commentary booth had just been set up, and two air conditioners were running continuously to ventilate the space. The discoloration of the skin on my legs was caused by the cold room temperature.

2. Regarding “the female commentator sitting with her legs crossed the entire time”:

The female commentator would uncross her legs and adopt a comfortable posture for in-game commentary once the camera cut away. The original intention of sitting with her legs crossed was to present a more polished on-camera appearance.

3. Regarding the “reflective table”:

This was indeed not intentional; rather, a miscommunication during setup caused the table to reflect light onto my legs. We have urgently placed a panel to block the reflection today and will replace the tabletop material in the future to prevent glare.

Additionally, regarding the clip in today’s video showing me sitting with my legs apart in pants: The intention was to briefly swap roles with Roy for a contrast effect. I wanted to demonstrate that women can also sit boldly in pants, let the male commentator experience how challenging a female commentator’s sitting posture can be, and debunk the misleading claim that “the tournament mandates female commentators to wear miniskirts.” Beyond that, there was no other meaning, and I did not mean to be sarcastic toward anyone. If I have offended anyone, I sincerely apologize.

Finally, I hope everyone can make rational judgments and engage in friendly discussions, without fueling rumors or being misled by the tone on social media or in the comments. I am just an ordinary person doing my job diligently; I simply want to provide good commentary and do my work well. Thank you for your understanding.

In the following broadcasts, the reflective surface was addressed by production and no longer provides a potentially indecent angle.

Zhazha’s outfits explained

The black outfit isn’t the only time that Zhazha wore something completely out of left field. Before that, she got into the getup below, making the point that she can sit and dress however she wants.

Zhazha’s black outfit is a reference to an in-game hero named “Gu Qinghan,” or “Justina Gu” in the English version of the game. Due to one of the maps being in the dead of night, with less lighting, some of Justina’s all-black outfits make her practically invisible when her skin tone is set to the darkest possible.

In fact, Zhazha has done this many times for content, and the ridiculous game mechanic is memed by the community. The pose that she pulls, including on broadcast is the same one that Justina does in-game when stealthing.

Nonetheless, it doesn’t change the fact that some people were offended by Zhazha’s outfit, especially when it broke containment.

NARAKA: BLADEPOINT was part of last year’s Esports World Cup, but will not be in the 2026 run. It is, however, one of the titles for the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya in Japan later this year.
