Here's what you need to know about the Antarctic Peninsula rework in Overwatch.

After two seasons of being out of rotation, Antarctic Peninsula is finally back in Overwatch. Antarctic Peninsula’s return also features a major rework.

The reworked Antarctic Peninsula features updates to various areas. For example, the icebreaker area has new alternate paths that take players naturally to the control point. Meanwhile, the research station opens its main chokepoint and has a new backside flanking area. As for the underground area, it now has higher ceilings, simplified layouts, and better staging.

Blizzard Entertainment gave players a look at the Antarctic Peninsula rework in the Overwatch Season 2: Summit trailer. The map preview begins at the 0:34 mark in the video below.

Players can also launch Overwatch now and check out the map for themselves via matches or via the “Custom Games” option. The latter can be accessed by clicking the “Play” button, selecting the “More” option, and clicking into “Custom Games.”

Overwatch content creator Nathan “KarQ” Chan uploaded a video about the Antarctic Peninsula rework on YouTube as well. He went over the before and after, noting that the reworked version has more orange tones, improved sightlines, and even an environmental hazard that can freeze players if they travel too high up. KarQ then did visual comparisons of the old and new map.
