From demons and hunters to Jujutsu Kaisen-inspired designs, here’s everything you need to know about the lore updates in LoL 2026 Season 2.

League of Legends (LoL) 2026 Season 2 is almost here, and Riot Games has unveiled a brand-new theme centered around the demons of Runeterra’s lore and the hunters who hunt them, with a strong focus on Vayne and her story. Throughout the season, players will uncover more about her past. The full experience will be rounded out by a demon-themed Battle Pass.

Lore updates

In the LoL 2026 Season 2, Vayne will be the protagonist in the game’s evolving lore. As one of the most experienced demon hunters in the realm, she will play a central role in the upcoming seasonal theme. Throughout the season, players will uncover more about her past, with new motion comics set to release along the way.

Born in Demacia, Vayne came from a wealthy, noble family. At age sixteen, she went through a traumatic episode in their life, finding both her parents dead. They had been assassinated by a demon. It was when she decided to hunt her parents’ killer. She spent the next few years training and hunting with her mentor, whom she ended up killing when she discovered she was a magic user.

This was part of the previously available information about Vayne’s lore, but Riot Games is now revisiting her story, as her biography has been removed from the official League of Legends page ahead of upcoming updates. We still don’t know how much is going to change, but Riot is taking us on a journey throughout her life and past.

LoL 2026 Season 2: The demon season

As we already know, the LoL 2026 Season 2 will focus on demons and explore the lore of one of Runeterra’s most prominent demon hunters. SkinSpotlights has shared some of the loot assets of the new season on X, which include demonic orbs, bags, and even what looks like the Prison Realm of Jujutsu Kaisen.

We can clearly see that there was some inspiration behind the design, particularly in the box, which closely resembles the Prison Realm. It makes sense that Riot Games would draw inspiration from such a popular anime, especially since it centers around sorcerers who hunt curses.

What other characters might appear?

Due to the LoL 2026 Season 2 theme and lore, several other champions could logically appear throughout the season. They can either emerge as supporting lore characters or as potential choices for new skins. These could be:

  • Evelynn
  • Fiddlesticks
  • Hwei
  • Morgana
  • Nocturne
  • Poppy
  • Shaco
  • Sylas
  • LeBlanc
  • Vladimir
  • Taric
  • Kayle
  • Quinn

Riot Games has already confirmed some of the season skins, which include Prestige skins for Shaco and LeBlanc, as well as Variant skins for Ivern, Irelia, Quinn, and Vel’Koz. Season 2 kicks off on April 29, 2026. We are very excited to see the direction the upcoming lore updates are taking.
