Riot Games is finally unleashing the WASD control scheme on ranked League of Legends queues. Let's nostalgically take a look at the funniest WASD bugs that they (un)fortunately squashed.

In case you didn’t know, Season 2 of League of Legends 2026 will mark the entry of the WASD control scheme onto ranked queues. Before this, though, Riot Games shared a few hilarious bugs, some game-breaking, that you should be glad aren’t making it over on the live servers.

WASD hits ranked queues on Patch 26.09. Read more about it here.

Hilarious WASD bugs squashed by Riot

Syndra – Wiggling

Syndra would often wiggle when walking in a straight line while using WASD controls and after casting her ult at least once.

According to the devs, this was due to a weird collision bug between Syndra’s champion model and her Spheres. “The unique pathfinding used by the WASD control scheme revealed the problem by causing her to minutely pathfind around her own rotating orbs.”

Aphelios – Basic Attack while dead

This is a very niche bug that involves Aphelios dying and being able to basic attack enemies while dead. The caveat is that he has to have Infernum equipped, the enemy must be in range, and they must not have been attacked by Aphelios before.

This was due to a “complex ability script” and how it interacts with WASD’s kiting logic.

Warwick – Drifting

Warwick can change direction during his Q – Jaws of the Beast dash. This was due to WASD input still updating his direction mid-dash.

Other funny WASD bugs

Since the introduction of WASD onto PBE and, eventually, non-Ranked queues last year, there has been a whole slew of funny bugs introduced by the new control scheme.

This includes some new and easier animation cancels for Riven found by Riven main zak.

“you can now cast any ‘cast time ability’ during your Q animation without having to S-Cancel or use E. this is for sure not an intended feature… please be careful when fixing this bug and don’t remove s-cancels entirely pls,” he wrote. Content creator foggedftw2 expanded this by saying that the new AA animation cancels made it to live and are doable on other champions.

High-ranked player William “NoName” Jones documented how Lee Sin could cast any ability mid Q2 dash. “Riot cooked this patch [skull emoji],” he captioned the clip. It would appear that this was not a problem unique to Lee Sin, as the same ability lockout is missing from other champions like Malphite and Zac as documented by user @Caillouu_lol. Other champions reported with the same bugs include Kayle and Ahri during their ultimates.

These were fixed shortly after they were found, to the dismay of some Zac mains who had a few days to feel like server admins.

One of the earlier bugs in WASD involved Nunu being able to drive The Biggest Snowball Ever! to impossible degrees and angles. Linked here is a clip of content creator Dumbs having fun with the bug. According to him, this also works on Sion’s ultimate and Skarner’s E.
