The 2025 League of Legends Season will bring many updates to the battle pass and rewards systems as we know them today.

League of Legends players always joke about how they hate to play League, but always queue for a match. Now, Riot Games is bringing motivation to players: more rewards. Let's see what they got. The next examples you will see are just examples, we still don't know how the next battle pass will be. Check out the developer's detailed video on YouTube.

New League of Legends Battle Pass

In 2025, League of Legends will be divided into thematic seasons. The first one will be Noxus so you can expect a Noxus-inspired pass and client. Over the years, the reward system has been too complex with too many currencies and unnecessary steps. In the next year, Riot Games wants to change that. The League of Legends Battle Pass promises us more immersion, lore knowledge, and fun, after all.

There will always be a pass active - instead of during two patches, will be up during four so you can have more time to achieve the rewards. They will be the core vessel of who you track and earn rewards - all in a single area so you don't have to be searching everywhere. The new League of Legends battle pass will have a free version for everyone which grants many rewards, including a Seasonal skin. Those who choose to pay the pass have access to other kind of rewards.

As you play, you'll gain experience with your battle pass, just like you already do. To gain experience, you'll have missions and that is going to change. In the next year, we'll have daily, weekly, act-long, events, and mastery missions. And because there are more missions available, you'll also have fewer "deal 10k damage" missions and more "play with x champion", according to the seasonal theme. This has a purpose: make your experience more immersive within the League of Legends lore. This is also better for people who can't play every day, but still want to receive rewards.

League of Legends Pass Rewards

In the new League of Legends battle pass, Event Shop, and Tokens will be removed as you can unlock all your rewards directly in the pass. Even if you'll have access to more rewards, Riot Games won't be increasing the pass prices - at least, for now.

  • 1650 RP - Battle Pass
  • 2650 RP - Battle Pass, 10 Pass Levels, Champion receiving the Prestige, Prestige Emote
  • 3650 RP - All of the above, 25 Mythic Essence, Prestige Chroma

Just like the normal ones, you'll have 50 levels and the repeatable ones. You can earn skins, titles, borders, emotes, icons, orbs, banners, and much more.

Free Battle Pass

For everyone, there's always a "free battle pass". According to Riot Games, if you don't spend a dollar on this game, you can still earn about nine skins a year, including the three Victorious skins at the end of each split. The ambition is, for the next year, to give you at least 12 (15 with the Victorious skins) but let's take a small step.

As for the skin shards, they'll be only acquirable through purchasing or obtaining Hextech Chests and Event Loot. The shards you have now aren’t going anywhere, so don’t worry - they’ll stay right there in your inventory. Just by playing, you can get two free skins per Act. The first skin will be unique, seasonally-themed skin when you reach level 20 (you can't reroll it). The second skin will be random, within the value of 975RP or lower and you can win it by reaching level 45.

Here's the full list of rewards for the free League of Legends Battle Pass:

  • One thematic Earnable Skin Permanent
  • One random 975 RP or lower Skin
  • One Title
  • Two Emotes
  • Two Mystery Emotes
  • Three Icons
  • Two Mystery Icons
  • Four Champion Capsules
  • 4750 Blue Essence (plus infinite repeating levels at the end of the track

If you can't complete the pass for some reason, you'll be able to purchase the remaining levels. Like the Battle Pass, it will store the progress in the paid track even if you don't purchase it at the start of the season so don't worry!

League of Legends Paid Battle Pass

For those who choose to spend money on this game, there are going to be better rewards. One of those is the Seasonal Prestige skin. In addition, you can unlock a bunch of other rewards such as other skins, Ancient Sparks of the Sanctum, banners, and more:

  • Everything from the Free Pass
  • Three Ancient Sparks
  • One Prestige Skin
  • Three Reward Skins
  • Three Borders
  • Seven Loot Orbs
  • One Banner
  • One Ward Skin
  • Two Emotes
  • Two Icons
  • 1000 Orange Essence (Plus an infinitely repeatable 25 OE every 5 levels after 50

The end of honor and the honor system

The honor system, as we know it today, will be changing in 2025. Moving forward your honor level will be tied directly to how you are rewarded in League - a positive honor level will grant you increased pass experience and in-game bonuses that already exist like access to in-game and post-game chat as well as some new targeted pings, emotes, and increasing the number of pings you can send per minute.

If you don't have good behavior or disturb the environment of your matches, you will have low honor and lose or have limited access to these systems. The honor is no longer reset - it's an actual representation of your game behavior. Honor Shop and Honer Tokens will be removed.

That said, at the end of this year we will be releasing Three Honors Shen, who will automatically be granted to all Honor level 5 players.

In the first patch of the year, Riot will be adding all Honor skins to the Honor Shop in case you have any leftover Tokens. Later in Season One, the shop is going to close and all of the leftover Honor Tokens are going to be converted to 2000 BE each. After the Honor Shop closes, the existing Honor skins will become a one-time unlock for hitting Honor level 5 in the future.

Prestige Skins: more unique than ever

In 2025, the Prestige skins will be more "prestige" than ever. Nowadays, the Prestige Skins came always with a non-prestige version. In 2025, that will end. The next Prestige skins will be unique, to make them more "special", and consequently lead to higher quality skins.

No more Masterwork Chests

With so many rewards, the masterwork chests will become redundant and Riot Games will remove them from the game. There are going to be two phases:

  • Phase One: Masterwork Chests will no longer be sold in the Store starting in patch 25.S1.1 on January 6, 2025. At this time, we also will be moving away from using them as rewards in other systems such as Battle Passes and Ranked Rewards.
  • Phase Two: The Masterwork Milestone track will be deactivated at the end of Season 1 Act 1 in patch 25.S1.5 on March 5, 2025. When they’re deactivated, all earned rewards on the track will be auto-claimed as well. Please note that you only progress the track by opening Masterwork chests, so any unopened chests will not count towards your progress.

After phase two, your Masterwork Chests in your inventory will remain unopened. You can still buy Hextech keys to open other chests in the future since the normal Hextech Chests will still be available as the lowest-cost way to acquire skins.

Champion Mastery Rewards

Riot Games commented about how disconnected from the League Champ Mystery has been felt. In 2025, the company will be incorporating Champion Mastey into the Battle Pass to improve the experience of playing ARAM and its contributions to the pass, re-enforce the pass as a central rewards experience, and make mastery itself bolster your progression. You'll still obtain Mastery level and points, but you'll see the Champion Mastery mission in your objective panel - there is always going to be an active mission that is equivalent to a daily objective and a few others for completing various sets of Mastery ranging up to large amounts of pass exp.

Event, Showcase, and Mythic Variant Capsules

The systems were just too confusing for everyone. In 2025, Riot will move the Mythic Variantes into The Sanctum as their tiered reward you can roll for Ancient Sparks. Mythic Variants will have their bad luck protection that guarantees you 40 attempts.

Capsules will disappear as well as the Showcase capsules that were not very popular and felt out of place. The only thing you will see in the new model is the event orbs or the capsules.

Alright, there were a lot of changes to tell you but don't worry, the next year is promising to be very interesting and different from what Riot has been offering us. Are you excited?
