G2 Petra announced her retirement from the competitive VALORANT scene and will now be focusing on streaming.

After earning 10 titles, including the 2022 Game Changers Championship, Petra “Petra” Stoker announced her retirement from the competitive VALORANT scenario. Throughout her career, Petra became a symbol of excellence within the women’s and inclusive esports scene, inspiring countless players along the way.

G2 Petra reveals retirement plans

On Dec. 8, G2 Petra announced her retirement. As one of the most accomplished players in the scenario, Petra leaves us a career full of titles and moments. Nine domestic trophies, a Game Changers Championship conquered in 2022 and a Red Bull Instalock tournament later, the Dutch player is officially retiring from the competitive scenario, as she announced on X.

"This has been the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make," Petra wrote. "To everyone who believed in me, and especially to my teammates, thank you. You gave me some of the best memories of my life, both inside and outside the server," she added. On the retirement post, Petra revealed that G2 and she didn't reach an agreement on a new contract, which led her to decide not to continue competing in 2026.

"Even though I’m stepping away from competing, I won’t disappear completely. I still love this scene, this community, and this game, and I will find my own way to stay connected," Petra stated. If you're a fan of hers, you will find her on Twitch streaming in the future. Be around to show some support!

Community reaction

People didn't take long to comment on Petra's retirement post, remembering her impact in the VALORANT community and her impressive legacy. "Enjoy your retirement, you paved the way for so many of us," G2 Esllene "Akita" Xu wrote.

G2 Michaela "mimi" Lintrup, who played with Petra for six years, also took the opportunity to describe Petra as one of the most legendary players in the scene. "My best friend, a legend in the field of esports and always and forever the funniest person I know of," mimi wrote. "It will never be the same without you. Thank you for having had my back for so long and for giving me lifelong memories to cherish."

The Game Changers Championship 2025 winner, Team Liquid Visa Vitoria "bizerra" Vieira, also commented on Petra's retirement announcement. "I said see you at the next championship, but it's not going to happen, I can't believe it. You are an inspiration and an incredible person, Petra. Thank you for building our space in FPS," she added. Under the post, many casters, broadcast talent, players, and fans have left lovely messages for the player.

Petra's career in FPS

Petra started playing FPS games early in her life, joining CS: GO professionally in 2015. She went through many teams, from Team Expert Female to Dynasty Gaming Female, Beşiktaş Esports, Team Originem, and XSET. It was with Team Originem that Petra met mimi and Julia “juliano” Kiran, two players with whom she would later win the VALORANT Game Changers Championship.

In CS: GO, she won the Copenhagen Games in 2018, DreamHack Showdown Valencia in 2019, the DreamHack Showdown Summer 2020: Europe, and the DreamHack Showdown Winter 2020: Europe.

When she transitioned from CS: GO to VALORANT in 2021, Petra originally joined XSET Female. However, in only four months, she signed with G2 Gozen, and from there, her successful run continued. The team quickly became a dominant force regionally, only dropping a title in 2022 to the same roster they had defeated to claim the first two domestic trophies of the season, Guild X. Even so, that didn’t stop them from going on to win the very first edition of the VALORANT Game Changers Championship.

With that victory, Petra, mimi, and jualiano are the first women to win World Championships in two different games. She also became the first Dutch player to win a Game Changers Championship event.

In 2023, she brought two domestic titles home, followed by another three in 2024. The three-place curse was starting to seem real, as G2 Gozen couldn't get further in the Game Changers Championship and conquer the trophy twice.

Thank you, Petra!

However, 2025 was a difficult year for everyone. The poor performances regionally and Petra being benched in the middle of the season were not reflecting G2 Gozen's potential. After two months inactive, she came back for Stage 3, which ended up winning with G2, bringing back their regional glory.

The Game Changers Championship, on the other hand, was not as glorious as they had hoped. This time, the team didn’t even reach the top three, something they had always achieved since 2022. After a difficult season, Petra revealed her retirement plans, which means she will no longer compete in 2026. She leaves us with an incredible career and a decade of FPS that no one will ever forget. GGWP, Petra!
