League of Legends animated series, Arcane is coming to Netflix this fall. Here’s a short teaser featuring two LoL characters.

The League of Legends animated series, ‘Arcane’, is coming to Netflix this fall, the streaming giant confirmed via a teaser.

League of Legends animated series coming to Netflix

Riot Games first announced Arcane in 2019 during League of Legend’s tenth-anniversary celebrations. The announcement also included glimpses and teasers for Riot’s FPS game Project A (now Valorant), a fighting game, an esports management game as well as Teamfight Tactics. The show was set for a 2020 release date but got delayed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

We still don't have many details of the show but expectations are high from the producers. Arcane will come after Dota: Dragon’s Blood, which recently announced a second season. The teaser video shows some action sequences between  Jinx and VI. There are also a few unknown characters in the trailer.

Riot expanding the LoL universe beyond MOBAs

The League of Legends developer is trying to expand the LoL universe beyond MOBAs. The developer is also hard at work to add new games to its studio. Valorant has been a runaway success so far. Several North American CS:GO players have switched over to Valorant in recent months. With a fighting game in the works, LoL fans can expect a barrage of new content coming their way in the upcoming months.

The Netflix animated series is yet another attempt to expand the LoL universe beyond just games. K/DA is a virtual K-pop-inspired girl group consisting of four themed versions of League of Legends characters: Ahri, Akali, Evelynn and Kai'Sa.

Riot Games will produce Arcane in partnership with Fortiche Productions. Fortiche Production is a 3D-animated French studio that has created animated series and cinematics for Riot Games Inc.

Netflix recently released Dota: Dragon’s Blood which was a top-ten show in many countries across the world. The success of the show has already resulted in the announcement of a Book 2. Netflix has been focusing on video game content, via animated series as well as full-fledged shows. The Witcher, Castlevania, Dota: Dragon’s Blood are just a few examples of gaming-related content on the streaming platform.
