Leon Kennedy and the other Resident Evil Fortnite skins have not resurfaced in almost 3 years. Will that change soon?

Leon Kennedy, Chris Redfield, Claire Redfield, and Jill Valentine have completely dropped off the Fortnite radar. Despite Resident Evil 9, also known as Requiem, dropping earlier this year, Epic Games did not capitalize on the series’s most iconic characters’ return. They have been missing in action for almost 3 years.

Here’s the latest update on this situation, including whether and when we expect Leon Kennedy and company to make their long-awaited return.

When are Leon Kennedy and the other Resident Evil skins coming back to Fortnite?

Unfortunately, there are no solid details on when Leon and the others may return to the Item Shop. The most recent update happened on March 4, when Epic Games included Leon himself in a trailer that also featured his RE9 co-protagonist Grace Ashcroft. She officially joined Fortnite on March 1 while the other skins remained on the sidelines.

Leon Kennedy fans flooded the comment section of this video with their belief that this meant the character would return soon. However, well over a month has passed, and there have been no updates. This has led many fans and those with hope to lose faith that the Resident Evil collaboration will ever return.

The reality is that we just don’t know. Leakers tend to gain intel when Epic Games updates cosmetics on the back-end, and no such update has happened for the classic skins. As a result, the inclusion of Leon Kennedy in the March 4 Fortnite trailer is curious.

Similar situations have occurred before, so don’t lose hope

This is not the first time, nor will it be the last, that a Fortnite skin has remained sidelined for an extended period. Case in point is the Fortnite x Arcane collab, which saw Jinx and Vi sit aside before returning after over 1,500 days. The explanation for the delay came from Riot Games, which said Epic Games could not find a good opportunity to bring them back.

Now, it’s difficult to imagine a better time than the Resident Evil 9 launch to bring those skins back. There is clearly something preventing this from happening, or Epic and Capcom are waiting for a better moment. On the flipside, Kratos, the God of War, has not resurfaced in the Item Shop in over five years.

Overall, there is no public explanation for why Leon Kennedy and the others can’t return to Fortnite. That’s the good news, but there are always scenarios not known to the public that can transpire. Fans clearly want the Resident Evil collaboration to return, so it could go the Arcane route or the Kratos route.
