DreamHack has announced its return to competitive Fortnite. Each season will feature a DraemHack Open tournament.

DreamHack has announced its return to competitive Fortnite with its DreamHack Open tournament series. The esports organizer will feature a DreamHack Open in addition to three extra cash cups per season.

DreamHack Open Featuring Fortnite

DreamHack has announced the return of the popular ‘DreamHack Open featuring Fortnite’ tournament series for 2021. The organizer will also host the “best of the best” (trios) Cash Cup Extra presented by DreamHack. Together the two initiatives boast a combined prize pool of more than $900,000 in 2021.

There will be a DreamHack Open for each season of the Fortnite competitive calendar. Spring, Summer and Fall DreamHack Opens will feature a $200,000 prize pool each. DreamHack had to postpone its April Open tournament due to the discovery of a rather serious glitch that allows players to duplicate items.

There will be 18 events in 2021 with a cash prize exceeding $17,000 for each event. Each season will feature six events evenly split between North America East and European servers. The best players from the European (EU) and North American (NA) East Trios Cash Cups will move ahead to the Cash Cup Extra Presented by DreamHack.

Cash Cup Extra Presented by DreamHack

DreamHack has already hosted two Cash Cup Extra events in 2021. The April 15 and 21 events were a massive success and the format will return for its third edition on May 12.

“We had an incredible experience hosting the online DreamHack Open Featuring Fortnite in 2020, and are very excited to again partner with Fortnite operator Epic Games to offer another year of Fortnite events for our community,” said Viktor Rydbäck, VP Product Management at ESL Gaming. “To strengthen our connection and involvement in the Fortnite competitive ecosystem is a tremendous opportunity.”

Fortnite players will be able to participate in DreamHack Open Featuring Fortnite on the EU and NA East and West servers as the competition is open for all and not invite-based. Cash Cup Extra requires players to compete in the Fortnite Trios Cash Cup to earn an invite to play. More information is available on the DreamHack website here. Additional details will be announced.
