Top reasons not to miss CEO 2024
Community Effort Orlando is one of the biggest events in the yearly fighting esports schedule. It doesn’t have the ultimate status of the most important one, like Evo has. And CEO is probably not as iconic as Combo Breaker. But there are some pretty substantial reasons to participate and follow it — specifically in 2024. Let’s list them for each game.
Mortal Kombat 1
There was Final Kombat 2024 just a couple of weeks ago, and no new league info was announced yet. May that happen at CEO? In any case, MK1 got a hotfix right after that tournament, with some meaningful character adjustments. It will be the first time the updated Mortal Kombat 1 is played on such a big competitive level.
Guilty Gear Strive and Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising
Both these games have Gold qualifiers for the Arc World Tour 2024. GGST got Slayer recently, and pro players had enough time to adapt to this new character and maybe bring him to the fights. And maybe there will be some interesting announcements for Guilty Gear Strive Season 4. GBVS Rising also has a new character added recently. Will we see Beatrix fighting in the esports environment?
Brawlhalla
CEO 2024 features one of only two official LANs for this game. We have the Brawlhalla Midseason Championship 2024 here! The previous character, Vivi, was released quite a long time ago, so we can expect interesting announcements.
Street Fighter 6
The Street Fighter community had more than enough time to adapt to the Battle Balance 2024 changes, and this should be a solid SF6 competition. M.Bison joins the game a couple of days before CEO 2024, but he is still not eligible to play (unlike Akuma at Combo Breaker 2024). Street Fighter 6 at CEO 2024 is a qualifier for the Esports World Cup 2024. The top 2 players will get the precious spots.
Dragon Ball FighterZ
The game has the first tournament of the DBFZ World Tour 2024. It’s super interesting what the competitive community will show after this period of obscurity, as many thought the game was dead already. We still have the opportunity to enjoy the current version, and after Evo 2024, DBFZ will get a new balance update.
TEKKEN 8
It’s arguably the biggest tournament of CEO 2024. Players will fight for the TEKKEN World Tour 2024 standing points, and the event has a lot of those thanks to its highest rank as a Master TWT event. Also, it’s one of the last chances to qualify for the TEKKEN 8 Esports World Cup 2024. There will be two spots distributed. While some top participants have already qualified, more players will have this unique chance.
