Team Liquid march ahead in the EPL S20

Team Liquid’s match against Complexity saw them come in as the series favorites despite having multiple changes to their Counter-Strike roster over the past few months. Leading the charge for TeamLiquid was Roland "ultimate" Tomkowiak, who had a stellar performance with a 1.79 rating across both the maps. He received ample help from YEKINDAR who had 34 frags of his own. Ultimate had 40 frags across two maps, completely dominating Complexity.

The first map itself set the tone for the series. Nuke is no longer a map as it was in the past and Team Liquid had a clean CT side half. They were up 12-0, at which point, it was evidently clear that they were going to win the map. The bigger question was whether Complexity would avoid a 0-13. And they did. They won the pistol and the subsequent round before Team Liquid sealed the deal.

The second map saw Liquid start strong, but Complexity had a few rounds where they had a great read on the Liquid playbook. However, ultimate was similarly impressive even on Map 2 with a 1.62 rating and 22 frags. Most of the other players hovered around 10 frags, allowing the young Polish player to unleash his potential.

With this victory, Team Liquid are now in the Quarterfinals, where they will go up against G2 esports. G2 are one of the strongest teams coming into the event and are one of the favorites to potentially make it deep closer to the finals.

The ESL Pro League Season 20 is currently underway. It started with 32 teams and only a final few remain now. The tournament has a $750,000 prize pool with the majority of the prize money going to the event winner. Counter-Strike fans can catch all the action live on Twitch.
