ESL FACEIT Group (EFG) and well-known Counter-Strike player Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev have announced a partnership with the Play Like s1mple Project! This is an educational video series that helps Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) players improve their game.

The Play Like s1mple Project boasts more than 60 interactive sessions. It also focuses on in-game skill development and strategy alongside topics about the esports industry itself and career advancement. According to the official announcement, the Play Like s1mple Project is made for both casual players and aspiring professionals.



Fabio Floris, the president of digital platforms at EFG, shared his thoughts about the partnership. He noted that s1mple's lasting success in the professional esports scene and legacy with FACEIT uniquely positioned him to enhance EFG's global community in terms of competition play.







“Viewers will not only pick up the intricacies of top-tier CS, but also insights on what it takes to break into the industry in other ways, including as caster, talent manager, and more," Floris added.



Meanwhile, s1mple expressed excitement about the launch of the Play Like s1mple Project. "Whether you're a casual player looking to improve your skills, better understand the game, and achieve a champion mindset or a great pro aiming to take your game to the next level, this program has something for everyone. I wish someone could have shared these skills with me when I just started my journey in CS," he said.

Fissure has announced the groups for BetBoom Dacha Belgrade which kicks off on May 14. The six-day event features a $500,000 prize pool and brings some of the best teams together in competition.

MOUZ have qualified to the ESL Pro League Season 19 directly to the quarterfinals. A top placement in the group stage means MOUZ will have to win just three more matches to win ESL Pro League. However, this also means that they don’t have a lot of time to recover post ESL Pro League Season 19. Undoubtedly, one of the best teams in this tournament, MOUZ will have their task cut out for them.



Heroic’s return to competition will come with a relatively fresh roster. The team’s performance at ESL Pro League was cut short after a 1-2 loss to BIG. Counter-Strike fans will be excited to see Donk’s return after nearly one and a half months of absence from competition. The team has not played a single match since their performance at PGL Major Copenhagen. 



BetBoom Dacha Belgrade will have a $500,000 prize pool and kicks off on May 14. The group stage has a double-elimination GSL format where all matches are best-of-three series. The top two teams from each group advance to the Playoffs. 



The Playoffs are single-elimination brackets where the semifinals are best-of-three series. The Grand Finals will test teams to their limits with its best-of-five format. The winning team gets the majority of the prize pool with $300,000 to the winning team. The second-placed team gets $100,000 in prize money.

BetBoom Dacha Belgrade Groups Announced

Ninjas in Pyjamas has signed the former GamerLegion rifler Isak "isak" Fahlén on May 8 to complete the rebuild of its CS2 lineup.



The addition of isak to NiP's CS2 roster comes days after the organization played in ESL Pro League season 19 and failed to reach playoffs. The 22-year-old Swede will take the spot of academy player Maoz "BluePho3nix" Paz, who was standing in while NiP searched for a permanent fifth player in the market.



With isak, NiP effectively rebuilt its CS2 lineup. The organization only kept the Spanish in-game leader Alejandro "alex" Masanet and longtime rifler Fredrik "REZ" Sterner after the RMR fiasco in February, which cost NiP's participation in the PGL Copenhagen Major. 



After that, NiP picked up Ukrainian AWPer Artem "⁠r1nkle⁠" Moroz, promoted the academy player Max "⁠maxster⁠" Jansson permanently, and signed Richard "Xizt" Landström as the new head coach. Alex revealed in an interview with esports.gg earlier this month that he didn't have a say in the roster changes and it was all NiP's management.






What does NiP gain with the signing of isak?



Isak is expected to fill an important spot in NiP's CS2 system: the anchor position. Anchors are players responsible for defending one of the bombsites even when the rest of the team already rotated to fight in the middle or to the other bombsite.



And, according to NiP's head coach Xizt, isak has all the qualities to succeed in this role.




"Isak embodies the essence of team play — he's the unsung hero who elevates the performance of his teammates," Xizt said in a comment to NiP's announcement. "Isak's consistent performance under pressure, posting solid stats in the least flashy role, underscores his reliability. Despite his youth, Isak's potential for growth within our setup is promising and I think he'll quickly become a crucial asset."

According to various posts online, Steam appears to have been banned in Vietnam as of May 7. Vietnamese users on Steam forums, Reddit, and other social media platforms state that their internet service provider (ISPs) are completely blocking access to the platform.



There is currently no official explanation from ISPs or the government for Steam's ban. However, people believe this may due to a large amount of the platform's content not adhering to local regulations.

Why is Vietnam banning Steam?



Various Vietnamese users on Steam, Reddit, and other social media all report the same thing. From one moment to the next, ISPs are banning all access to the Steam platform in Vietnam. The community on r/Helldivers humorously notes the timing of this occurring mere days after their victory over Sony's PSN requirement.



Users suspect Steam's ban to be an action by the Vietnamese government. One commenter on Steam reports an ISP support representative describing the order as "from above."



There is yet to be any official statements by any Vietnamese ISP or the government itself. However, a translation of this article reveals a possible motivation for Steam's ban in Vietnam.



In Vietnam, games featuring violence and other sensitive content require censorship in accordance with the law. Steam is reportedly distributing many "violent [and] adult games …but not asking permission."



The article also states that with no Steam office or official contact in Vietnam, "authorities are looking for solutions." It appears that the solution they are arriving at may be a total ban on Steam in Vietnam.

The Apex Legends Global Series Year 4 Split 1 finished on May 5. Over the course of the weekend, there were over 3,000 kills by dozens of different guns and grenades. However, one weapon dominated the field with over 800 kills alone.

The most popular weapon by far for Year 4 Split 1 is the Havoc. This full auto energy weapon requires a little bit of a spin up before it fires, but pro players' game-sense make that an easy feat. 



The simple reason why the Havoc is so popular is that it shreds enemies in close to mid-range fights. The DPS for the Havoc is one of the highest in the game currently, making it a no-brainer choice.

Damage doesn’t always equal kills in the pro league. Being able to poke enemies from a distance and force them into different positions can be just as important as securing kills. 



That’s why the Hemlok beat out the Havoc for damage in this Split, primarily because the windup needed for the Havoc can take too long for long-range shots.

The recent Yoda Backbling is one of the better Star Wars cosmetics in Fortnite. It draws directly from The Empire Strikes Back; plenty of people have spent their V-Bucks on it. However, players soon discovered a bizarre issue with the Backbling that would cause consistent game crashes. 



As pointed out by Fortnite leaker iFireMonkey, those with the Yoda Backbling equipped in Fortnite would experience a complete game crash after performing the "Zoidberg Scuttle" Emote. This Futurama-inspired Emote would cause the Yoda Backbling to glitch before Fortnite would close out entirely.

<p>The final map was Mirage, a map that KarrigaN is extremely comfortable on. Mirage is a map that FaZe have historically been known to be very strong on. The team's performance on this map did not disappoint. Ropz and broky stepped up with 18 frags, but it was an all-round team effort. KarrigaN himself had a positive KDA highlighting the impact of him staying alive on most rounds. FaZe won Mirage 13-8 and with it the series 2-1 </p>

<p>Virtus.Pro's roster has been together for quite some time. The team's performance so far in 2024 has been impressive with strong results in BLAST Premier Spring Gruops, the Dallas European qualifier as well as previously in the RMR. </p>
