A scientist, inventor, professor, and innovator, Heimerdinger is a yordle who heavily affects the story of Arcane.

A scientist with a seat on the council, Heimerdinger is the ‘father of Piltover’ in Netflix's hit show, Arcane. In Arcane Season 2, however, Heimerdinger is less Councilor and more inventor, lending his wits and engineering prowess to people willing to use it for good.

Fun little tidbit before we begin: Heimerdinger's name is derived from J. Robert Oppenheimer and Erwin Schrödinger's names. He also has a given name: Cecil.

By Arcane Season 2, Heimerdinger has fully taken in Ekko as his protégé. He has found a second home in the Firelights, among the other rebels. His return to Piltover was prompted when Ekko found out that the tree in the base was being affected by an unknown affliction.

Heimerdinger and Ekko sneak into Jayce's lab in Act 1, finding the shell that Viktor's "evolution" left, as well as a tired Jayce. The trio travels down to the base of the Hexgates, and they go within the Wild Rune.

Heimerdinger in Arcane Season 1

Heimerdinger, a yordle over three centuries old, is a respected scientist and professor in Piltover. In Act 1, he was the head of the Piltover Council. He is considered a founder of Piltover and also founded Piltover University. In the past, he worked with Singed.

He cautions his student, Jayce, to not venture into researching magic and trying to create it with science. Despite Heimer's warnings, Jayce continued - and succeeded - in his endeavors. The professor was amazed at his accomplishments but still did not approve of the use of Hexgems.

Arcane Magic: Heimerdinger’s Experience vs The Curious Jayce

By Act 2, Piltover's trade is booming thanks to the Hexgates. Working towards exploring new uses for Hextech, Viktor creates the Hexcore, a more organic version of Hextech that can adapt and learn.

Heimerdinger was extremely against the existence of the Hexcore. Unfortunately for him, Jayce's newfound influence over the Piltover Council made it hard to push back. Eventually, Jayce and the Council expelled Heimerdinger.

We need a leadership focused on the future, not the past.

Jayce, as he convinces the Piltover Council to force Heimerdinger into retirement.

Heimerdinger to Zaun

With his influence stripped, he crossed the bridge to Zaun, hoping to aid the ongoing conflict from the other side. While he was on the way there, he met an injured Ekko, and the two like-minded individuals formed a mentorship.

His gameplay revolves around turrets that he places. These turrets are stationary, and they fight with Heimer. While his abilities have been modernized in his 15 years of existence, Heimer's playstyle remains the same: control an area with his turrets.

Nowadays, he is mainly played in the support position, acting as a secondary source of damage and crowd control to exert pressure in the duo lane. Historically, he has seen play in most other roles.
