The Golden Guardians will host a Super Smash Bros. Melee tournament on Feb. 5! Zain and n0ne will take part in the esports competition.

The Golden Guardians will host a Super Smash Bros. Melee tournament on Feb. 5. It will feature the skills of Zain “Zain” Naghmi and Edgard “n0ne” L. Sheleby. Read on for details about The Golden Gauntlet!

Golden Guardians' Zain and n0ne fight SSBM challengers

The Golden Gauntlet event will have six matchups showcasing the top Super Smash Bros. Melee competitors from across the globe. The main event will headline Golden Guardians' Zain duking it out against a mysterious challenger. Recently, Zain claimed total victory at the Ludwig Smash Invitational. He's also first place in the MPGR 2022 Summer Rankings.

N0ne will also be featured in another matchup, having made it to the top eight at last year's Get On My Level (GMOL 2022) tournament. At the moment, the player takes ninth place in the MPGR 2022 Summer Rankings.

As for the broadcast talent, they will be streamer Kevin "PPMD" Nanney and commentator Kris "Toph" Aldenderfer.

The Golden Gauntlet SSBM tournament

The Golden Gauntlet competition will mark the Golden Guardians' first-ever esports event happening at its facility located in Playa Vista, California.

This esports facility is a 10,742-square-foot space that boasts monitoring systems for players, gaming monitors, and a creative studio. As for the team's staff members, they have access to a fully-equipped kitchen, wellness center, player lounges, and more.

The facility had its grand opening on Nov. 15, 2022. As an esports affiliate of the Golden State Warriors, the Golden Guardians' esports hub was celebrated by Brandon Schneider himself, who is the president and chief operating officer of the National Basketball Association (NBA) team. Schneider was at the opening ceremony with Kirk Lacob, who's the executive vice president of basketball operations and vice president of GSW Sports Ventures. Hunter Leigh, the head of esports, also attended the event.
