Other featured game modes include Catch-A-Mari and Starwatch.
Overwatch 2 players can now duke it out against each other in Assault maps. According to Blizzard, these Two Control Point (2CP) game modes are highlighted as part of the Overwatch 2 Anniversary event. Prior to this event, players had access to these locations through custom games and the Arcade rotation.
Assault maps return to Overwatch 2
Between Sept. 26 and Oct. 3, Overwatch players can complete event challenges by fighting in Hanamura, Temple of Anubis, Volskaya Industries, Horizon Lunar Colony, and Paris. To access these maps, launch the game, press "Play" in the main menu, and select "Arcade." Next, click on the "Assault Maps" option.
Here are the different 2CP maps in Overwatch 2:
- Temple of Anubis
- Volskaya Industries
- Horizon Lunar Colony
These maps require the attacking teams to capture two points in order to claim victory. Meanwhile, the defending team must prevent the attacking team from getting these objectives.
Since the return of these maps are a part of the Overwatch 2 Anniversary event, players can earn progress on special event challenges. Winning a game means double the progress.
What happened to 2CP maps in Overwatch 2?
The 2CP maps were available in the first iteration of the game, but they were removed from the regular Overwatch 2 playlist. Prior to this Overwatch 2 Anniversary event, players had access to them in custom games. The Assault maps were also sometimes available in the Arcade rotation.
As players queue up for the event, they can check out everything we know about Overwatch 2's Samoa map reveal so far. According to Blizzard, more information about the upcoming Control map will arrive during the Overwatch League Grand Finals on Oct. 1.
