Harumi will join the growing list of Mortal Kombat 1 Kameos!
Apart from some leaks here and there, Warner Bros. and Netherrealm Studios have kept a tight lid on downloadable content (DLC) for Mortal Kombat 1 beyond Kombat Pack 1. However, a face model attached to the project has leaked that Harumi Hasashi, Scorpion's wife, will eventually become a Mortal Kombat 1 Kameo character. This article details everything we know about the situation.
Jiwon Christine Ra prematurely confirms Harumi Kameo in Mortal Kombat 1
In a now-deleted Instagram post, Korean model Jiwon Christine Ra revealed too much information. She posted a picture showcasing Harumi Hasashi in Mortal Kombat 1. The caption told more of the story:
"I've been bursting to share that I am the face of Harumi Hasashi in the new @mortalkombat 1 game. Absolutely honored to be a part of this legendary game as the FEMALE, playable version of Scorpion–a plot timeline twist I loooove [sic]," she wrote. "Make sure to pick up #MK1 and pick Harumi as your Kameo."
There's much to unpack here as we have our first official DLC confirmation beyond Kombat Pack 1, which has just two main and Kameo characters remaining. Although no in-game screenshots were provided, Harumi's presence in a future Mortal Kombat DLC pack has been confirmed. The model has since deleted this post and posted a story that reads, "Yesterday was too much internet for one day."
Who is Harumi? Origin explained
In timelines previous to Mortal Kombat 1, Harumi was the wife of Hanzo Hasashi, better known as Scorpion. She fell victim to the infamous Shirai Ryu massacre, orchestrated by Quan Chi. It was initially believed that Bi-Han and the Lin Kuei carried out this attack, ultimately creating Scorpion.
Harumi returns to the Mortal Kombat 1 canon again in a relationship with Scorpion. However, this time, it is not Hanzo Hasahi but Kuai Liang, the younger Sub-Zero in the original timeline. She becomes Kuai Liang's wife in the MK1 canon. Based on the model's Instagram post, it's unclear whether this is supposed to be Hanzo Hasahi or Kuai Liang's wife.
Since Jiwon deleted the Instagram posts, nothing more has surfaced, so we will have to wait and see what else surfaces.
