paiN Gaming and Rainbow7: The Last Chance for South America

Yesterday was a golden day for paiN Gaming. With another great performance against the Vietnamese team Vikings Esports, paiN will a final challenge after the Swiss Stage. Many didn't believe in the Campeonato Brasileiro de League of Legends (CBLOL) region as a championship with a team with the potential to qualify for the Swiss Stage, but paiN Gaming wants to change that. They are done being a "meme league." Will the Brazilian strength be enough to defeat Movistar Rainbow7?

Movistar Rainbow7 is a Mexican team. They won both regional splits in 2023 and one in 2024 — with being 2nd at the other one. Against all odds, Rainbow7 was proving that Liga Latinoamérica (LLA) has a lot of great players capable of doing the grandest shows in LoL Worlds 2024. Rainbow7 does not want to go home today. They want to keep winning on the Swiss Stage. Will they be able to win the fight between the best South American teams?

Worlds 2024 match recap: paiN Gaming vs Rainbow7

Welcome to match recaps where you can find all the key moments of the games. What a historic moment for the Brazilian team!

Game 1

The South American titans were ready to fight for the third slot of LoL Worlds 2024 Swiss Stage. paiN Gaming started the first match with a very oppressive bot lane, but Lyonz was ready to counter every play. dyNquedo's mid-lane was unbearable. The game started out balanced, but Keine's Syndra was too strong and K'Sante was impossible to kill. Rainbow7 kept the game controlled and didn't give paiN any chances.

However, paiN Gaming didn't give up the game that easily. They put a lot of effort into the macro game, however, that wasn't enough to stop Rainbow7. CarioK stole the Herald with a very funny play. The LLA's team confidence was great, and the team was energized by the momentum.

The last fight for Drake was the cherry on top. Rainbow7 increased their advantage, killed four out of five paiN Gaming players, and secured the Baron. They were unstoppable! Rainbow7 was one game away from making history for LLA, but paiN Gaming knew they couldn’t let that happen.

Game 2

Tensions were at an all-time high. Who would claim the title of the best team in South America? paiN Gaming entered with the same oppressive bot lane — Lucian and Nami were making life miserable for Xayah and Rakan. Sejuani was doing every scuttle on the map, and Xayah was capable of making one kill but ended up losing a wave and a half. Two Voidgrubs were secured by paiN Gaming because Poppy was too low to contest. Meanwhile, Wizer was gaining too much space in the top lane. His Jax was wild!

Poppy was all over the map and making impactful plays, but paiN was going for everyone's heads: a great opportunity created by TitaN, dyNquedo, and Wizer was enough to change the game and make paiN's life easier. The Lucian and Nami duo was destructive — the synergy between them was on another level. Rainbow7 started to have problems dealing with the confidence of the Brazilian team. TitaN shifted the entire momentum of the game.

Rainbow7 still tried to have a hold of the game and defend their base, but there was absolutely nothing they could do to stop TitaN's fury. paiN won the second game, and the tension hit a new high. Who would advance to the Swiss Stage?

Game 3

This match was the last chance for both teams. First blood went to dyNquedo's Ahri, who radiated a different energy than in the first two matches. The synergy between Wukong and Rell was perfect, allowing paiN Gaming to secure an early advantage in the mid lane. The fights were looking good for paiN — Ahri was an unstoppable force and CarioK's Wukong was focused on carrying the Brazilian team to the next stage. However, Rainbow7 wasn’t about to go down without a fight. They began to regain control, clawing back the gold advantage.

The support in the Riot Games Arenas was undeniably Brazilian. All you could hear was "Go paiN! Go paiN!" The game was so balanced and controlled for both teams. Both teams were also capitalizing on each other's mistakes. It was a true battle of the titans! The Drake fight was amazing for Rainbow7. Renekton's damage was absurd and his presence in the team fights was crucial for the increase of R7's advantage.

But paiN simply could not let this advantage stay for too long. What chaos! This game felt like the final of LoL Worlds 2024. It was pure cinema!

What were we witnessing? Everyone was sweating, there were so many team fights, and the impact plus confidence from both teams were unforgettable. No one wanted to lose — especially with so much on the line for their regions in LoL Worlds 2024. In an unbelievable game, paiN Gaming found the perfect flank. It was the perfect opportunity to carve Brazil's path to victory!

What an incredible display of gaming in the LoL Worlds 2024 Play-Ins for paiN Gaming and Rainbow7! The emotion and tension were off the charts — what a series! Rainbow7 went home today. However, congratulations to every team for their amazing matches. Stay tuned for the last battle of the Play-Ins.
