A micropatch to nerf LoL’s newest champion will be rolled out today.
Arcane's Mel Medarda has arrived in League of Legends (LoL) and is already making an impact, and while she hasn't been quite as potent as a few of the recent champion additions, developers are hitting her with a few adjustments via a late Jan. 24 micropatch. Here are the LoL Mel micropatch details.
Reception of Mel on the Rift has been welcomed by developers, but players — as with any new champion — will need a little time and a handy micropatch to be convinced she's fit for ranked.

Riot developer Matt "Phroxzon" Leung-Harrison revealed the Mel micropatch for LoL late on Jan. 24. "We've been thrilled to see the player reception for her," Phroxzon said, but he did note she was a little on the strong side.
"We think there's a reasonably high (but intuitive & learnable) play against curve and she's picking up disproportionate value from playing against popular champions like Ahri, Miss Fortune, and Lux," Phroxzon continued.
The developer's solution to her early power is a hefty nerf to her abilities across the board. Her passive, Searing Brilliance, has had its Overwhelm flat AP damage ratio reduced from 25% to 10%. Radiant Volley (Q) hasn't been touched early, but does a touch less later on, while her ultimate Golden Eclipse has had its base and scaling AP damage hit by around 20% each.
The Q nerf is significant as it provided a massive boost to her farm speed. Between stacks of her passive and the early first level(s) of Q, she could clear waves extremely quickly and build an advantage.
"We're pretty happy with her shape (i.e. how much power is in each spell), but she's a bit too strong overall, particularly with R casts that don't have a large amount of stacks supporting it," Phroxzon said. "Her economy with passive helping with last hitting is allowing a bit more gold generation for average players than expected."
According to U.GG, Mel only registered a 51.02% win rate a day after she arrived in the game. This pales in comparison to the likes of Smolder and Aurora on launch. Her absurd 32% ban rate says a little more about how players feel about Mel, but we'll likely see this fall once the nerfs arrive.
