The initial placement in the LoL Worlds 2024 Knockout bracket is pretty important. Not only does it determine the first opponents for each team, but it also shows the potential path to the grand final. Those who qualified for the Knockout stage have unique paths at the League of Legends World Championship 2024. Some teams got three victories at the beginning of the Swiss stage. Others had to battle till the last decider match.
3:0 teams: LNG Esports and Gen.G Esports
LNG Esports is the third team from the LoL Pro League (LPL, China). Quite surprisingly they have the best Swiss results among all the other teams from this major region.
- LNG Esports won their starting match vs Team Liquid.
- On Day 2 of the LoL Worlds 2024 Swiss stage, LNG defeated the #1 LPL seed, Bilibili Gaming.
- In the qualifier Bo3 match, LNG Esports earned their Knockout spot by winning vs the Korean team Dplus KIA.
Gen.G Esports couldn’t secure the Golden Road as they lost in the LCK Summer 2024 grand final to Hanwha Life Esports. But they still were the first Korean team to qualify for the LoL Worlds 2024 quarter-finals. And GEN took their revenge on HLE in the process.
- Gen.G Esports defeated the 4th Chinese team Weibo Gaming in their opening match.
- In Round 2, GEN got victory over Top Esports, another LPL seed.
- The qualifier match was against Hanwha Life Esports — and Gen.G were better this time.
3:1 teams
These teams made one misstep during the Swiss stage. They needed an extra match to qualify for the LoL Worlds 2024 Playoffs.

T1
T1 players are defending World Champions. The fans certainly expect to get another title, but this path for T1 is not too smooth. The legendary team had some difficulties on the regional LCK scene. T1 qualified for the Worlds 2024 main event only in the very last match against KT Roster. And the World Championship start wasn’t flawless either.
- T1 lost their Round 1 match to Top Esports.
- On Day 2, the Korean team got a victory over paiN Gaming from Brazil. This started their successful series.
- The next win was in the epic matchup: T1 vs Bilibili Gaming.
- T1 won their qualification spot in the match against G2 Esports.
3:2 teams
The remaining three participants of the LoL Worlds 2024 Knockout stage were decided on Oct. 13, in the Round 5 matches of the Swiss stage. These teams took the longest path to the final brackets.
Weibo Gaming
WBG players had a shaky Swiss stage run, but they still managed to advance to the next stage.
- In the starting round, Weibo Gaming lost to Gen.G.
- Round 2 was against Team Liquid, and WBG won that battle.
- They lost to G2 in another Bo1 match.
- Reaching the elimination point, Weibo Gaming defeated the second European seed, Fnatic.
- In the decider match, WBG and DK had a classic LPL vs LCK rivalry, and Weibo Gaming were better this time.
BLG
Bilibili Gaming started slowly at the League of Legends World Championship. But they recovered around the mid point of the Swiss stage and still qualified for the Playoffs.
- In Round 1, BLG got a pretty expected win over MAD Lions KOI.
- Then, Bilibili Gaming players faced the familiar opponents from LPL — they lost to LNG Esports.
- The next loss for BLG was to another legendary team, T1.
- The recovery started in Round 4 by defeating PSG Talon.
- In the decider match, BLG had a close battle against G2 Esports, and the Chinese players won it.
FlyQuest
The North American team is the only one not from LPL (China) or LCK (Korea) in the quarter-finals of LoL Worlds 2024. They are the most creative team in the Swiss stage — in terms of unusual picks (like Nunu to face HLE).
- FLY defeated the Vietnamese team GAM Esports in Round 1.
- Their second match was against Dplus KIA, and FlyQuest lost it.
- Round 3 brought FLY players one more win — over PSG Talon.
- The qualifier match vs Hanwha Life Esports was surprisingly close, but FLY still lost it.
- The decider battle was between two NA LoL teams. FlyQuest defeated Team Liquid.
