PapaSmithy joins FlyQuest to help their overall business strategy after three successful years with 100 Thieves.

Following his departure from 100 Thieves after a three-year tenure, Chris "PapaSmithy" Smith has joined FlyQuest as the organization's President and Chief Gaming Officer. PapaSmithy spent three years as the General Manager of 100 Thieves and helped to greatly improve their League of Legends team.

100 Thieves finished top four in the past four splits and won the LCS Summer Split Championship in 2021. The team also made back-to-back Worlds appearances but fell short in the group stage. Papasmithy announced his departure from 100 Thieves earlier stating that he's interested in building something great in esports in 2023. Now, he will look to turn FlyQuest's fortunes around in the LCS. The organization has spent the last two years in the bottom half of the LCS standings despite several roster changes.

New FlyQuest with PapaSmithy for LCS 2023

The decision to bring PapaSmithy to FlyQuest is a result of the ownership change at FlyQuest. The organization was acquired by the Viola family office, the owners of NHL team Florida Panthers. These owners intend to invest more in the FlyQuest LCS structure to help take the organization to greater heights.

Chris' reputation and track record in the gaming, esports, and League of Legends communities speaks for itself. We are excited for him to join FlyQuest, and to help lead the organization into its next chapter. Chris will play a key role in team and player development, as well as engaging with FlyQuest fans and the LCS community in new and unique ways.

PapaSmithy will focus on not just the LCS team development and competitive play but other titles. He will also help with the organization's business strategy. FlyQuest is yet to announce its LCS roster as well as its coaching team for 2023. However, their jungle Josedeodo has already indicated he will be exploring his option while there are reports of Toucouille returning to Europe. With both jungler and midlaner likely to move on, FlyQuest will certainly be looking for top players to fill the void.
