CaitVi fans have started a petition for the extended scene, which, according to showrunner Christian Linke, is “probably on some French hard drive.”
Arcane Season 2 shocked fans in many ways, the intimate scene between Caitlyn and Vi being one of them. As the series has concluded, fans are now petitioning for the extended CaitVi scene to be released after information that the scene in the final cut was "toned down" was made public.
The CaitVi scene petition
The petition is on Change.org. User RotemChan_ started the petition "Release Caitlyn and Vi’s Extended Cut" on November 27. It has garnered almost 30,000 verified signatures within days.
"As fans of Arcane, we were thrilled to see the beautiful relationship between Caitlyn and Vi develop on screen. However, co-creator Christian Linke revealed that an extended version of their romance scene in Season 2 was edited down, leaving us with a shorter, dialed-back version," the description of the petition reads. "We respectfully ask Netflix and Riot Games to release the extended version of this pivotal moment for fans who cherish these characters and their journey."

Arcane showrunner: [The longer cut] is probably in some French hard drive.
"This is the shorter version... there was a series of considerations around ratings potentially cutting off a significant part of the League of Legends audience," said series co-creator, showrunner, and executive producer Christian Linke in an on-stream interview with LoL content creator Necrit94.
Linke said that the romantic scene between Caitlyn and Vi in the final cut was the "dialed back version." When prompted by Necrit asking if the scene was longer, Linke responded with an affirmative. He followed by saying "We got a slap on the wrist."
As a follow-up, Necrit inquired if Linke or the Arcane team is planning on showing the original pitch. "It's probably on some French hard drive," Linke said, then jokingly alluded to a "director's cut."
Linke has gone on several interviews, including one where he confirmed that they are working on several projects at the moment. Seeing the success of Arcane and the fact that the beloved series is not getting a third season, this move makes complete sense. This shouldn't mean sidelining the Arcane fandom, though. Their passion is as high as can be, especially the ones aboard the CaitVi ship.
