Arcane had a masterful ending.

Arcane has sadly come to an end after two brilliant seasons and there's a lot to unpack from Season 2, Episode 9 "The Dirt Under Your Nails."

The last episode of Arcane Season 2, Act 3 wrapped up the war of Piltover vs. Zaun and resolved the conflict between Jayce and Viktor once and for all.

Arcane ending explained

How Ekko essentially saves the day in Arcane Season 2, Episode 9

As we approached the end of Arcane Season 2, Episode 9 it looked like everything was going to dust. Viktor was about to defeat Jayce and succeed on transforming everyone on himself and vice-versa.

However, Ekko came in clutch with his hoverboard when Jayce most-needed it and notably used Zero-Drive, the same device from League of Legends, to manipulate time.

Ekko created the Z-Drive in the parallel universe that he and Heimerdinger were trapped in Arcane Season 2, Episode 7 "Pretend Like It's The First Time." With the use of Z-Drive, Ekko is able to rewind into the past by up to four seconds.

Ekko brings the Z-Drive with him when he travels back to his original reality and that essentially saves the world. With the Z-Drive, Ekko is able to rewind multiple times, dodging Viktor's soldiers. He masterfully throws the Z-Drive at Viktor, which leads to the Hextech inside it to interact with Viktor.

From there on, we see one of the most exceptional scenes in Arcane's end.

Jayce gets Viktor to come to reason in Arcane Season 2, Episode 9

The Hextech shatters Viktor's armor and stops him from absorbing Jayce and the rest.

Jayce had all sorts of reasons to take this opportunity to strike Viktor, but instead, he talks to his partner.

"Now, all I want is my partner back," Jayce gracefully tells Viktor.

Viktor doesn't believe that Jayce wants to make peace after everything that happened and asks why does he persist. This prompts Jayce to hug him and say that he made a promise to Viktor.

Viktor is the mage who saved Jayce's mother when he was just a child. Additionally, he also gave Jayce the Hexgem he wears on his wrist.

Viktor then reveals that in "all timelines and all possibilities" Jayce is the only one who can show that the world can't be saved in the way he imagined.

The two partners reunite at the very end or Arcane Season 2 to destroy the Hextech and put an end to the conflict. It's left up in the air whether they survived or died. But, for all it's worth, it's likely they're together in a parallel dimension.

Apart from some casualties such as Heimerdinger (sort of), Ambessa, Rictus, Vander, and Maddie, most of the characters survived. Piltover and Zaun finally made peace and Sevika is even part of the council.

What about Jinx?

Although Jinx sacrificed herself at the end of Arcane Season 2, Episode 9 to save Vi from Warwick, she's most likely not dead.

The show implies at the very end that Jinx is still alive by showing Caitlyn looking at the air ducts with one of Jinx's destructible monkeys before Episode 9 wraps.

Not to mention that Arcane series finale concludes with a distant ship flying in the horizon, which further implies that Jinx is alive.

After all, Jinx desperately wanted to escape from reality many times across Arcane Season 2.

That's all for now. Stay tuned to esports.gg for more Arcane news.
