Splendor Opus, the first skin line of 2025, will drop exclusively in League of Legends: Wild Rift on Jan. 9.
Inspired by Chinese opera, the new skin line for League of Legends Wild Rift, Splendor Opus, will be available on Jan. 9. This is the first skin line of League of Legends' new themed era for the mobile game.
Splendor Opus champions
The new skins for League of Legends: Wild Rift will feature Kalista, Talon (legendary), Teemo, Dr. Mundo, and Sett (default and mythic chroma).
Mixed reactions
Some fans on Reddit have been criticizing the new Wild Rift skins for their "poor design" and the difficulty in identifying the champions — Dr. Mundo, who looked like Galio, and Kalista, who looked like Karma. One fan pointed out Talon receiving four skins "within the same year of his release and is now getting a legendary at the start of the year." This has been justified by its popularity within the community.
The bigger doubt is about the possibility of the Splendor Opus skin line being part of another gacha system. This has not been confirmed yet.

Gacha system in Wild Rift skins?
The gacha system arrived to League of Legends with the Exalted Fractured Jinx skin in December and was not quite appreciated by fans who criticized the overpriced cosmetic. The same reaction came out as soon as the new Exalted skin for Sett was leaked. This discussion about overpriced skins started much earlier as well — when Faker's Hall of Legends skins came out.
The truth is the gacha system seems to be staying in League of Legends for a while. Some fans also pointed out how Riot Games was lying about the slower process regarding these skins.
"Exalted skins are what happens when we let our teams cook, pushing our design and tech capabilities to make the best possible skin for each champion's unique fantasy within a specific theme," Riot Games wrote in a statement.
