“There is still a long way to go, we are looking at The International” – BOOM Esports after winning the Gamers Galaxy Invitational

BOOM Esports just won their first LAN event at the Gamers Galaxy Invitational.. but they’re not done yet.

The Gamers Galaxy Dota 2 Invitational Series Dubai 2022 just crowned BOOM Esports as the champions of the tournament. The eager boys of BOOM climbed from the Lower Bracket to set up a revenge match against the powerful Tundra Esports. After a close battle that brought the series to a fifth game, BOOM Esports landed the final nail in the coffin, defeating their opponents 3-2.

The boys out of Manila absolutely crushed their first LAN appearance at the Gamers Galaxy Invitational. Their coach, Chai "Mushi" Yee Fung, who wasn't able to make it to Dubai, has also remotely helped the team and played a huge impact on their victory. The squad will bring home a hefty USD $109,000 as prize money.

BOOM Esports finishes a 3-2 revenge against Tundra Esports

The series started with a strong showing from the side of Tundra. Nine's Legion Commander completely obliterated the midlane and it destroyed BOOM's momentum. Tundra eventually snowballed the game into a convincing victory.

The next few games continued and they were a back-and-forth affair. In the fifth and final game, BOOM Esports dominated the map and although Tundra had moments of hope, the Southeast Asian squad gave no room for comebacks. Both teams fought until Tundra's ancient was finally destroyed, and BOOM Esports becomes the crowned champions of the Gamers Galaxy Invitational.

A spectacular Grand Final at the Gamers Galaxy Invitational

If we're talking about hot takes, this Grand Final has got to be one of the best for the past few years. BOOM Esports waltzed into the tournament with a great status. They're the SEA DPC champions for both Regional Leagues and Regional Finals. But they were definitely not amongst the giant names such as Nigma Galaxy, OG, and Team Secret. This was their first LAN event, and they went to 8 games on the final day to win it, beating Nigma Galaxy 2-1 and Tundra Esports 3-2. They also trumped down Dota 2 powerhouses such as Team Spirit and Team Secret. An absolutely wild journey.

Their run in the tournament also reminded us of the beautiful run at TI10. A group of underdogs defeating world-renowned champions from the Lower Bracket to finally win the championship. We won't ever get tired of this arc.

And the most beautiful stories come with the best narrations. In this Grand Final, we had the honor of witnessing a highly decorated casting trio. Yes, TI winners, KuroKy, SumaiL, and N0tail blessed the audience with their knowledgeable casting.

BOOM Esports have their eyes on The International

After the win, the captain of BOOM Esports, Rolen Andrei Gabriel "skem" Ong stated that this win is a process and they're gearing up for the most prestigious Dota 2 tournament. "I'm really proud (of the win) but we still have a long way to go. We are looking at The International," said skem. "This is still just a process to us."

Right now, BOOM Esports is one of the strongest contenders to attend The International 11. But until then, there are more Dota 2 from the DPC that can heavily impact the DPC standings.

This event has been a great experience for both players and the audience - the first LAN event of this degree since The International 10, thanks to Galaxy Racer.
