IEM Fall is the final RMR event for PGL Stockholm CS: GO Major

IEM Fall is the last chance for teams to qualify for the PGL Stockholm Major.

The final set of RMR events will be hosted by ESL, the tournament organizer announced today. IEM Fall will host online regional events in all but one region.

ESL will host all the final Regional Major Ranking events before the PGL Stockholm CS: GO Major. The event is the final chance for teams to qualify for the CS:GO Major that takes place later this year.

IEM Fall 2021: The final RMR event of 2021

The coronavirus pandemic has forced the cancelation and postponement of several tournaments last year. Valve introduced Regional Major Ranking events for teams to qualify for the CS:GO Major. However, the deteriorating global health condition meant Valve had to cancel the ELS One Rio Major earlier this year. The game developer also announced PGL Stockholm Major with double the prize pool.

North America and CIS will feature twelve teams each. South America, Oceania and Asia will feature four teams each. Europe will have 24 teams and will most likely take place on LAN.

Only two RMR events for some teams

CIS and South America are the only two regions that will have played three RMR events this year. The remaining four regions will have to contend with just two RMR events. This means teams from some of the more competitive regions (Europe, North America) will have only two RMR events.

IEM Fall is an RMR event and will therefore follow Valve’s qualification guidelines for qualifiers. Half the teams at the event will qualify via current RMR standings, while the remainder will come via qualifiers.

This is the last chance for teams from all regions to qualify for the CS:GO Major. It also means this is the last opportunity for teams such as Fnatic and FaZe Clan to try to qualify for the upcoming Major.

IEM Fall has a $255,000 prize pool with the following prize distribution per region:

  • North America: $70,000.
  • South America: $10,000.
  • Europe: $105,000.
  • CIS: $50,000.
  • Asia: $10,000.
  • Oceania: $10,000.

What are Regional  Major Ranking events?

All teams participating in the PGL Stockholm Major will get their invites based on their RMR rankings. Teams competing in Regional Major Ranking events receive points based on their performance in the event. ESL One Fall is the final RMR event of 2021.

The PGL Stockholm is the final CS:GO Major of 2021 and kicks off on October 24. The event runs through November 7 and has a $2 million prize pool. With 24 teams competing on LAN at the Avicii arena, this tournament is the biggest prize pool Major in CS:GO history.
