The number of average players is still some way off its peak. The highest average for CS:GO was set in April 2020. As the pandemic enforced lockdowns all over the world, CS:GO breached its peak average player numbers at 857,604.

If the current trend continues, we might see a new record for the average number of players as well.

Despite being a game that has been around for more than a decade, CS:GO’s basic gameplay is extremely simple to understand. In many ways, CS:GO serves as the focal point of entry for new gamers. With a simple point-and-shoot mechanic, CS:GO appeals to gamers of different ages, locations and more.

Furthermore, post-pandemic, there has been a massive influx of gamers interested in competitive FPS games. While some might have gone to VALORANT, there's been a steady increase in number of players for CS:GO as well. With its simplistic playstyle and mechanics that can be understood by everyone, it is easy to see why CS:GO often becomes one of the most popular esports titles out there.

Recently, Valve released the Revolution case, after a gap of nearly eight months. Days after its release, Valve had to replace AWP Doodlelore with Duality due to a potential copyright claim. With the BLAST.tv Paris Major is approaching next, we can expect to see renewed interest in the game.
