The two legends will play together for the first time.

Team Liquid fans should be jumping for joy as the team has finally revealed a doozy of a roster for the 2024 Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) season.

The switch to the Source 2 engine brought a ton of changes to both gameplay and rosters, with top-tier squads flipping players left and right. The latest winner of the roster shuffle is Team Liquid, which announced the acquisition of Casper "cadiaN" Møller and Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken to finalize its lineup. Here are details on both announcements and how well the team is expected to perform in the coming months.

Twistzz and cadiaN join Team Liquid roster

Team Liquid announced the signing of cadiaN on Dec. 6 and Twistzz on Dec. 7, both through their official social media channels. The agreements came as a surprise to fans, especially considering Heroic’s recent roster controversies.

CadiaN left the Danish squad over disagreements with teammates only for Martin "stavn" Lund and Jakob "jabbi" Nygaard to leave for Astralis days later. He then stood in for Heroic at one last event before officially leaving. Fans immediately speculated about which team he would end up on. Team Liquid was not a popular prediction.

As for Twistzz, he brings an impressive resume from FaZe Clan. HLTV ranked it the best squad in the world at the time of his departure. Twistzz played a major role in the team’s success after joining in 2021, earning nine championships including the 2022 Antwerp Major. He is also the only player to win multiple Intel Grand Slams, originally winning with Team Liquid in 2019.

New Team Liquid CS2 roster with cadiaN and Twistzz

With the addition of cadiaN and Twistzz, Team Liquid’s CS2 roster for 2024 is as follows.

  • Casper "cadiaN" Møller
  • Keith "NAF" Markovic
  • Felipe "skullz" Medeiros
  • Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken
  • Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis
  • Wilton "zews" Prado (Coach)

The squad is truly an international mix, with only NAF and Twistzz both representing the same country in Canada. Four of the five players have several years of experience, with NAF soon to cross five years of partnership with the organization. The least proven player is skullz, whose signing was revealed on Dec. 4. The Brazilian rifler has put up solid results in the Americas with paiN Gaming, but has yet to prove himself in the European scene.

While the roster will likely experience some growing pains, the new lineup is expected to perform decently well in the top-tier scene. The core of NAF and YEKINDAR earned several top-eight finishes throughout 2022, including fifth at the Paris Major. If the team falters, at least Liquid fans have the mental fortitude to stick it out.
