Will Modern Warfare 3 skins transfer to Call of Duty Black Ops 6?

Modern Warfare 3 was the first ever Call of Duty game to have a "carry forward" system with its previous incarnation, Modern Warfare 2. This carry forward programme allowed players to transfer their skins from Modern Warfare 2 to Modern Warfare 3. Modern Warfare 3 skins are also carried across into Warzone.

But, with Call of Duty Black Ops 6 releasing soon, will this carry forward system be in effect?

Sadly, Modern Warfare 3 skins will not transfer or carry over to Call of Duty Black Ops 6. They will however continue to be usable in Warzone.

The carry over system was mostly possible because MW2 and MW3 were so similar. The games were connected very closely and there was a lot of similar items, mechanics and so forth. Now as Call of Duty pivots back to the Black Ops series this will no longer be the case.

Speaking back in June Activision said: "We want to make sure that everybody starts fresh, together, as we move into an all-new experience with the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

"Allowing everyone to experience the Black Ops universe the way it’s meant to be played, learning the era-specific weapons and gear, learning the gameplay innovations like Omnimovement, and keeping that signature Black Ops style is important. 

"Therefore, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Modern Warfare III content will not carry forward to the Black Ops 6 Premium experience. 

"The one exception is the Black Ops 6 Vault Edition Woods Operator Pack preorder benefit. It is currently available in Modern Warfare III and will carry forward into Black Ops 6."

That means that while your Modern Warfare 3 skins might not transfer to Black Ops 6, you likely won't miss them. This is because there is a totally new arsenal of weapons and all new game mechanics to get stuck into.

Black Ops 6 weapons will be coming to Warzone during season one of Black Ops 6. There is no confirmed date for when this will happen but expect it at some point during 2024. Call of Duty Black Ops 6 releases October 25, 2024.
