The Call of Duty League starts tomorrow and will be broadcast exclusively on YouTube.
After one season away, CDL is back on YouTube as per an announcement one day before the competition. The Call of Duty League ended the dilemma of where the competition would be broadcast, announcing that the CDL was officially returning to YouTube. The news was announced by an official blog post on Dec. 7.
The league justified the decision by saying "Being on YouTube offers a high-quality viewer experience with items like Viewership Rewards, Play/Pause functionality and 4K viewing."
The last season started with broadcast only on Twitch and via watch parties. However, over time, the broadcast extended to YouTube, registering a significant increase in viewers during Major 4 with the league's return to the platform.
The 2024 edition of the Call of Duty League arrives on YouTube despite initial worries about the league. in May, Activision, through its SEC filings, reported a hazy future for Overwatch and Call of Duty esports.
Where to watch CDL?
The Call of Duty League will be broadcast on the league's official YouTube channel. However, doubts remained in the community about the future of watch parties with community figures such as Seth "Scump" Abner and Thomas "ZooMaa" Paparatto.
However, both confirmed that they will hold watch parties for portions the 2024 edition of the Call of Duty League. ZooMaa announced on the other hand that the Twitch broadcast will not have images of the match.
In the announcement, the Call of Duty League officially announced the "Watch Party Program". There people can apply to broadcast the competition starting on December 15.
