Smilegate, developer of CrossFire, signed a deal with GRID to provide official match data of its esports leagues.
Esports data and technology platform GRID has partnered up with Smilegate to bring official match data for CROSSFIRE esports for the first time. Here’s why this deal is monumental and how it will affect you, the viewers.
Smilegate and CrossFire’s deal with GRID
CROSSFIRE boasts more than 1 billion lifetime registered players across over 80 countries, but its influence mainly lies within the Asia-Pacific and LATAM regions. Most recently, they held CrossFire Stars 2025, an offline $1.4 million tournament in Chengdu, China.
SEA and LATAM enjoy consistent tournaments, like the regional CrossFire Stars regional leagues.
“GRID’s technology gives us new ways to engage players, enhance entertainment value, and innovate around our IP. CROSSFIRE has engaged more than one billion players worldwide, and we see official data distribution as a key part of how we continue to build our community and deliver exceptional experiences.”
Kihyoung Cho, SVP, Smilegate
The official data from this deal will support “broadcasters, media partners, community, and commercial use cases”. The final point most likely refers to esports betting sites and online casinos that offer CrossFire odds.
If you are a regular patron of these sites, this deal is a big positive. With official match data from GRID, odds and results will be faster, more reliable, and may even open additional markets. All in all, CrossFire betting is safer with official match data.
“CROSSFIRE has a massive global player base and an esports audience built over nearly two decades by developers who truly understand their players. This partnership reflects the growing recognition of match data as part of the game’s IP—helping evolve esports ecosystems, enabling new activations, improving fan experiences, and unlocking commercial opportunities around the game.”
Charlie Hanley-Nickolls, CPO, GRID
This expands GRID’s publisher portfolio, which already includes Riot Games (League of Legends, VALORANT), Rainbow Six: Siege, and PUBG. GRID was also the data technology partner of the 2025 Esports World Cup. Last year’s EWC had CrossFire, but it is notably absent from the list of games for EWC and ENC 2026.
Moreover, GRID signed a deal with the ESL FACEIT Group in July 2025 to be the organizer’s official data partner.
CrossFire significantly boosts GRID’s presence and footprint within the Asia-Pacific and LATAM regions. Official CrossFire match data is expected to be available in the GRID Data Platform sometime this year.
