The Sun Squad Collection Event in Apex Legends is finally bringing the heat with some fan service in the form of swimsuit skins. There’s also a new heirloom. Here are the patch notes!
A new Apex Legends Collection Event is upon us! But wait — this time, the collection event is special! The swimsuit skins are finally here! As a side note, in addition to all the fan service, there are also some balance changes and Ash's new heirloom. Ash is receiving some buffs that will make her noticeably stronger. Here's a quick patch analysis of the Apex Legends Sun Squad Collection Event.
Ash is getting a buff with the Sun Squad update
Among the most prominent changes in the Sun Squad Collection Event update is Ash getting a buff. She's also getting her heirloom, and a buff alongside an heirloom is pretty rare. Her Arc Snare is more effective across the board thanks to the buff, which makes her more viable in competitive scenarios. Below are the details.
- Cooldown decreased from 25s to 20s
- Travel speed increased from 700 to 1200
- Tether activation delay and snare grow time decreased by about 50% (The Arc Snare will more reliably hit intended targets)
So Arc Snare is now one of the more effective disabling abilities in Apex Legends thanks to this. Among the main complaints about the Arc Snare was the slow projectile speed. It practically telegraphed itself to the target. With the buff, it's now much faster and can reliably hit targets. A five-second cooldown buff in addition to these is just the icing on the cake.

Crafting rotations
The Crafting rotation pool in the replicator has changed as well. The Volt and Longbow DMR are out while the 30-30 Repeater and EVA-8 Shotgun go into the replicator. The 30-30 Replicator is among the most popular poking weapons in the game, but so is the Longbow DMR. It'll be interesting to see how many players craft the repeater.
Ash's heirloom
Well, it looks like Ash's heirloom is here. And it's interesting. It's essentially a pair of nunchucks. Nunchucks are cool, but these feel quite meh. How do they fit in with the lore of an IMC mercenary-turned-simulacrum? Guess we should all call her Ash Lee now.
The Sun Squad Collection Event in Apex Legends goes live on March 28 and features a full set of beach bum-themed swimsuit skins. It also features a new Heatwave limited-time mode (LTM).
