Apex Legends Season 18 Patch Notes

Changes to Revenant

For almost 300 years, Revenant was under the Syndicate’s thumb with the help of Hammond, and all he wanted was to escape. Now, suddenly, he starts to glitch—someone has launched a new protocol. He finds that he’s able to see enemies low on health, unleash a powerful leap forward, and forge a shroud of shadows around him that blocks incoming damage. But he also knows how to hold a grudge.

Check out Revenant’s new look and new abilities for yourself! He’s unlocked all season long, and you can complete challenges throughout the season to unlock him permanently. Read the full breakdown of Revenant’s rework and get behind the screens in our highlights blog here.

With great new abilities, comes a new class—Revenant is now a Skirmisher.

PASSIVE: Assassin’s Instinct

Highlight nearby visible enemies who are low on health. You crouch walk faster and have improved wall climbing.

TACTICAL: Shadow Pounce

Unleash a powerful pounce forwards. Hold to charge for farther distances.

ULTIMATE: Forged Shadows

Forge a shroud of hardened shadows around you that blocks direct damage and regenerates after breaking. Your shadows and tactical are refreshed on knockdowns.

  • New:A small portion of Elimination bonus is exempted from bonus withholding due to mismatched MMR and LP. This value increases based on the player's MMR.
  • Skill & Rating Bonuses have been dramatically reduced.
  • Elimination bonuses are increased slightly
    • We mentioned in our July 2023 Ranked blog that we would be bumping up the Elimination Bonus slightly. In our attempt to reduce the Master spike, we identified the need to instead reduce the overall points given within the whole system. Instead of bumping as planned, we took a different approach and reduced placement scores to make eliminations more valuable when compared to the now lowered placement score.

Potential Charge Rifle rework? - July 30

On July 30 EA posted a tweet of the blueprints for what appears to be a new version of the Charge Rifle. While the design looks similar visually, the notes on the blueprint state "redesigned compensator valves. Concentrated projectile".

The Charge Rifle is not currently a traditional projectile weapon as it is a hit-scan weapon that fires a beam, making this look like a subtle hint from EA that the Charge Rifle will be undergoing changes in the Apex Legends Season 18 notes.

Confirmed Changes to Ranked Mode

"Season 18 focus: updating matchmaking to better handle players that are actively challenging their MMR to ensure a competitively challenging match that mirrors their current ranking."

The official EA dev blog posted on July 19.

EA posted a deep dive on Season 17's ranked system and acknowledged it was flawed. EA stated the "overly generous ladder points" in Apex Legends Season 17 were a contributing factor in the "inflated number of players in Masters".

This led to 28% of players reaching Masters rank. The goal of ranked mode in Season 18 is to reduced that number to "represent 1% or less of the player population" according to EA.

Ranked changes coming to Apex Legends in Season 18 patch notes

  • Ladder Points received per match will be reduced to "even out" distribution of players per rank
  • Elimination bonuses will be increased to encourage combat
  • Diamond rank and above will have increased stakes and Ladder Point losses
  • Matchmaking will take into account players that are "actively challenging their MMR" to give them competitive matches.

Changes to Ring damage

In a bid to increase the amount of action taking place inside the ring, EA will be making changes for Season 18. This was shared in their Dev Blog.

  • Ring Damage will be adjusted to "increase action in the ring"
  • Ring Timings will be adjusted to create more mid-game fights and less "pre-finale lulls"

The specifics of the ring damage and timing changes have not yet been shared but will likely come with the official Apex Legends Season 18 patch notes.
