The Apex Firing Range 2.0 has received a “total overhaul” by devs for the upcoming Season 17: Arsenal. The changes are massive.

EA are giving the Apex Firing Range a "total overhaul" for Season 17 dubbing it Firing Range 2.0.

Apex Firing Range 2.0 will include a brand new map (pictured below) featuring an entirely new town. Yes, one that actually has buildings with doors and windows for you to smash and jump through.

This comes off the back of several smaller Firing Range changes, which included Unlimited Ammo and various settings for the speed at which Dummies could strafe.

During a pre-launch press event for Season 17: Arsenal, EA devs said that the with the new map comes "new combat options". The most important of which is that the dummies now have the capability to fire back. This allows for "a lot more combat scenarios to play out". EA also confirmed major changes to Fragment on Worlds Edge.

This means that the Firing Range will feel much more like a standalone mode, than a holding area while you wait for your teammates to show up to play some games. Respawn have really attempted to capture what people use the Firing Range for, and have added features to really support players needs in the Firing Range.

EA have confirmed Apex Firing Range 2.0 will have:

  • A 1 vs 1 Duelling Pit
  • Agility course (to practise movement techniques, such as supergliding)
  • Training grounds
  • A new town
  • Expanded targets from the original map

You can now join Apex firing range sessions in progress

If you're a die-hard fan of the Apex firing range, you'll be delighted to know that Firing Range 2.0 will allow you to join your friends ongoing session. Yes, that's right! In the Arsenal Update You will no longer need to remake the lobby every single time someone wants to drop in, which was a massive pain point before.

During the pre-launch press conference for invited media, EA did respond to questions regarding weapon mastery. The devs confirmed that combat in the Apex Firing Range 2.0 will not contribute to weapon mastery experience, and that that's reserved for standard and competitive gameplay.
