Help Hoppip retrieve their cotton spores, and you’ll get rewarded with goodies!

Not long after the release of Pokémon Pokopia, the game already had its first event, entitled “More Spores for Hoppip,” featuring a variety of new Pokémon, habitats, and items.

After restoring the Pokémon Center, you’ll discover that the Cottonweed Pokémon Hoppip stumbled upon your humble town, seeking help. Apparently, Hoppip got blown about by the wind and somehow lost its collection of cotton spores.

During this event, which runs from March 10 to March 25, you can help Hoppip by collecting cotton spores scattered outside the Withered Wasteland and other nearby areas. If you have just started playing Pokémon Pokopia and are not sure how the event works, this guide will walk you through everything you need to know.

Pokémon Pokopia: More Spores for Hoppip Event mechanics

Participating in the first Pokémon Pokopia event is quite simple. The moment the event starts and you open the game, you’ll be notified with a message saying, “A Pokémon is the talk of the town!”

Head over to the Pokémon Center to see Hoppip, and after registering the new Pokémon to your Pokédex, they will offer you a set of special treasures in exchange for an event currency item called cotton spores.

How to get cotton spores in Pokémon Pokopia

As the game itself already revealed to you, cotton spores can’t be found in any of the readily accessible areas, like the Withered Wasteland, Pallet Town, or the Bleak Beach. Instead, you can only get lots of it from Dream Island.

Dream Islands are described as mysterious places where you can get various resources like food and are only accessible by using a Pokémon with the Dream Island Specialty. Drifloon is the only Pokémon with such a Specialty, and it allows the Balloon Pokémon to bring Ditto to a Dream Island as long as you have a type of doll item.

If your town doesn’t have a resident Drifloon yet, you can find it at the western coastal section of the Withered Island, near the path that leads to Pallet Town. Talk to it and complete its request, and you’ll be able to get a doll that you can use to go to a Dream Island once a day.

In case you haven’t accessed the other areas in the game yet, you’ll likely end up using an Eevee Doll that will enable Drifloon to bring you to a Dream Island resembling the Withered Wasteland.

With a doll in your inventory, talk to Drifloon and select “I wanna go to a Dream Island.” Once you’re there, look for white cotton plants scattered around the island. Those plants are the cotton spores that Hoppip wants you to get, so don’t hesitate to scour the entire island and collect all cotton spores that you can find.

Exchanging cotton spores for items

After returning to your town, go back to the Pokémon Center to find Hoppip inside. The Cotton Pokémon already laid all of the special treasures that they mentioned earlier, and if you want any of them, you can pay Hoppip a certain amount of cotton spores.

Here is a table containing all of the special treasures that you can trade during the More Spores for Hoppip Event.

Hoppip ItemDescriptionRequired Cotton Spores
x5 Dandy flower seedsSeeds that can be planted on soil.5
x1 Flowery table settingA decorative item resembling cute floral tableware.10
x1 Flower tableA table with a flower-patterned tablecloth.10

x1 Juice trioA decorative set of bottles containing colored juices.5

In a single run of collecting cotton spores in a Dream Island, you can have around 60+ cotton spores, which should be enough to purchase most of Hoppip’s items. You can buy any of the items repeatedly as long as you have enough cotton spores and the event is still active.

New habitats from the Hoppip Event

Apart from spicing up certain indoor and outdoor spaces within your town. The things that you can get from Hoppip can be used to make habitats that attract specific Pokémon.

Try to buy as many Hoppip items as you can to set up the following:

  • Yellow carpet: Requires four pieces of Dandy flowers on the ground. This habitat may spawn a Hoppip, a Skiploom, or a Jumpluff.
  • Field-trip friends: Requires a flower backpack, a Hoppip water bottle, and a lunch box on the ground. This habitat may spawn a Skiploom.
  • Dandelion lunchtime: Requires a set of Dandy flowers, a flower cushion, a lunchbox, and a flowery table setting on the ground. This habitat may spawn a Jumpluff.

Once you have obtained all the Pokémon featured in the event, you can still spend your remaining cotton spores or use any spare Hoppip event items to decorate the houses of your resident Pokémon and increase their comfort levels.
