Keep Ditto’s appetite in check by gathering lots of food in Pokopia!

As you work to restore parts of the Withered Wasteland in Pokémon Pokopia, you may run into a common problem that many new players face: running out of food. Food is just as essential as any other resource in the game because it restores your PP, which you need to perform moves like Water Gun, Cut, and Rock Smash.

Without enough food, progressing through certain tasks and gathering resources can quickly become difficult. In this guide, we’ll give you the best trick for collecting as many foods as possible, so you will never run out of PP and keep on restoring and customizing large sections of the wasteland in the game.

Key highlights:

  • To avoid running out of food in Pokémon Pokopia, you can water any dried trees that you can find and harvest their berries. If you can water down some dirt as well, you can sometimes find a carrot.
  • You can also get a good supply of food from planting vegetables. You can purchase seeds at the Pokémon Center Shop or cut some vegetable plants in the open world.
  • Dream Islands can grant you access to a bunch of berry trees. Try to harvest them all, as you can only visit a Dream Island a day.

Ways to get food early in Pokémon Pokopia

Collecting berries from trees (fastest method)

To have lots of food in Pokémon Pokopia quickly, try exploring the open world and watering down as many dried trees as you can, especially near the area you’re trying to develop. A watered tree provides a certain type of berry, which is mainly Leppa Berries if you’re just starting out.

Continue exploring multiple areas near your settlement, as you’ll likely discover sections filled with dried trees, such as elevated lands, beaches, and grassy fields.

To harvest a berry from a tree, position your character in front of it and press A to use Headbutt. You can get two to three berries per tree.

Planting vegetables

Once you manage to spawn a Drilbur, it can teach you the move Rototiller, which allows you to till dirt or grass and turn it into a crop field. With a crop field, you can plant various veggie seeds on it, such as the beans that you can purchase at the Pokémon Center’s PC Shop.

Planting vegetables might not be as fast as harvesting berries, but once you grow a significant number of crops in your settlement, you can maintain a steady supply of food.

Collecting berries on a Dream Island

Dream Islands are mysterious places in Pokémon Pokopia, and the only way to access them is by finding a Drifloon. You can spawn a Drifloon by making a riding warm updrafts habitat, which only requires three pieces of campfire.

To trigger Driftloon’s Dream Island Specialty, talk to them and offer a doll, which you can purchase at the Pokémon Center Terminal. Once you’re on a Dream Island, you’ll likely find lots of trees that you can headbutt and collect berries from.

You can even find more dried trees here, so feel free to water them down as well to maximize the number of berries that you’ll get.

Remember that you can only visit a Dream Island once a day, so try to collect any other resources that you can find.

Restoring dirt for a chance to get carrots

Carrots are much rarer than berries, but consuming one instantly restores your character’s entire PP bar. While watering a tree, we also recommend using Water Gun on the surrounding ground, as you might uncover a carrot that you can pull from the soil and collect.
