As Overwatch 2 fans await the battle pass grind, make sure your skins from Overwatch 1 have been safely transferred over.
While Overwatch players enjoy the game itself, one of the most popular aspects of Blizzard's FPS is the heroes and their lore. Players have spent years collecting as many cosmetics as possible in Overwatch 1, uncovering new skins and voice lines for their favorite heroes. But with servers down for Overwatch 1, the community is wondering if all their skins will transfer to Overwatch 2.
With the Overwatch 1 servers down, gamers are hoping that all their skins aren't lost for good.
How to transfer Overwatch skins to Overwatch 2

If you're a PC player, you are all set!
According to a blog post from Blizzard on cross-progression, all skins will automatically appear in the sequel.

Console players had to merge their linked accounts into one account under their Battle.net ID. By unifying all the accounts into a Battle.net ID account, all cosmetics — including skins — will be available in Overwatch 2 when it's downloaded.
"All items in the Hero Gallery across platforms will be present in the merged battle.net account. This includes all sprays, emotes, skins, and everything else in the current Hero Gallery tab in-game. Duplicate cosmetics across platforms will be merged into a single battle.net account," Blizzard explained.
While the Overwatch 1 servers were still up, players received a pop-up urging them to merge accounts. If you never received this pop-up, you can merge your accounts by doing the following:
- Login to Overwatch from your console account
- Follow the on-screen prompts to scan a QR Code on your mobile phone.
- Enter the code displayed on your console to connect to or create your Blizzard Battle.net Account.
- Once complete, you will be prompted to confirm your account upon the next game login to merge your accounts.
Why does Overwatch require you to merge accounts?
Unlike in Overwatch 1, the sequel requires all players to have a battle.net account no matter the platform. This account must be confirmed in order to carry progress and cosmetics from the first game into Overwatch 2.
Once you've merged your console accounts to a battle.net account, all of the progress from that console account will be stored to the battle.net account.
And that's that! Once you have your Overwatch 1 skins in Overwatch 2, you can focus on grinding the Season One Battle Pass to unlock new skins, including the Mythic skin.
