How to get relics in Honkai: Star Rail

Relics are effective clothing items that boost stats in Honkai: Star Rail.

There are 20 different relic sets in Honkai: Star Rail. Each of these sets give different boosts and buffs to characters in-game. Sets of relics are comprised of four different pieces, using more than one of the same set together provides further boosts to characters in the game.

What are relics in Honkai: Star Rail?

Players first learn of relics upon entering the Great Mine for the first time. The Relic system is unlocked as part of the mission "Ones Fallen Into The Abyss". Players must be Trailblazer Level 14 before taking that mission.

Relics are essentially clothing items that provide buffs. Their design is that of a hat, gloves, boots and belt.

Relics are powerful items that can be equipped to player characters to provide buffs to a number of different stats. Players can buff HP, Speed, Attack and Defense all with the use of Relics.

Getting relics that specialise in certain stats is incredibly important when it comes to constructing the best possible team for your playstyle in Honkai: Star Rail.

How do you get relics in Honkai: Star Rail?

In lore, these Relics are in two different categories. There are Cavern Relics and Planar Relics. Here are the different ways that players can find Relics:

  • From Trailblaze Level rewards
  • Redeemed using special currencies in the Store
  • Overworld chests and objects
  • Complete Operation Briefing objectives
  • Cavern of Corrosion in the Survival Index
  • Echo of War in the Survival Index
  • Simulated Universe

These Relic types are dependent on where the player finds them. If you find a relic in the overworld, as part of the questline or general exploration, it will be a Cavern Relic.

Planar Relics are in the Simulated Universe, where players can grind out repeated missions to try and improve their rewards. Planar Relics and the Simulated Universe missions that you can use to farm them, are available after the mission "In the Sweltering Morning Sun".

Players must clear waves of challenges in different levels in the Simulated Universe in order to get themselves the rewards. These rewards vary and will not always include Relics.

A good way to farm Relics is to complete the Cavern of Corrosion missions in the Interastral Guide section of the Honkai menus. Players have to clear waves of enemies to secure themselves a whole bunch of rewards.

The more of these that you complete, the more chance you have of getting the best Relics.

How to create specific Relics

There is a way to get Relics and Planar Relics with specific stat boosts, but it can take some time. Here's a quick rundown of what you need to do:

  • 1. Reach Trailblazer Level 40 to unlock the Custom Relic synthesis
  • 2. Go to the Interastral Guide
  • 3. Find the Survival Index on the furthest right tab of the Guide.
  • 4. Complete trials in the Simulated Universe.
  • 5. Salvage any 5-star Relics or Ornaments you receive.
  • 6. Use 100 of the salvage that you have in the Synthesis menu to create a custom Relic piece.

These custom pieces can be very powerful. Players can tailor them to be exactly what they need them to be.

What do Honkai: Star Rail Relics do?

There are 20 sets of relics in Honkai: Star Rail. Some of them are two parts, some made up of four. Either way, up to four of these relics are to be used at once on each character.

Each of the sets are also available in different star rating variants. They all come in 2-star, 3-star, 4-star and 5-star versions.

Combining these Relics together can unlock unique buffs for players. Our suggestion is to find out which set correctly buffs for each of your character's roles.

For instance, if you have a tank healer, then you'll want to increase the HP and defense. DPS characters, such as Himeko, will be better benefitted from Damage and Speed buffs.
