Abyss Cressets are a valuable reward in Crimson Desert, but what exactly are they and how do you use them?
There is no shortage of “Abyss” items that you can find, loot, and use in Crimson Desert. It seems like every major location or item has something to do with the Abyss, and this can make it complicated to keep up with everything that you’re finding. One of the more confusing yet useful items that you can come across in Crimson Desert is called Abyss Cressets, and these have a few different uses.
To see exactly what Abyss Cressets are and how you can use them in Crimson Desert, keep reading the guide below.
What are Abyss Cressets in Crimson Desert?
First off, Abyss Cressets are artifacts that you can find at designated spots around the map in Crimson Desert. When you interact with them, you’ll earn an Abyss Artifact, which you can use to unlock or enhance a skill in the Skills menu.
Abyss Cressets also act as fast travel points in Crimson Desert. When you unlock one, you’ll also unlock a new teleport location on your map in the same spot where you found the Abyss Cresset. A new icon will appear on your map, which looks like a blue-lit pillar, and you can select it to immediately fast travel to that location.

Fortunately, there’s nothing you have to do in your inventory to actually use Abyss Cressets. The game does all the work for you, as you’ll earn your free Abyss Artifact and fast travel point just by interacting with the cresset itself. Of course, you’ll still have to spend the Abyss Artifact on a skill after the fact.
How to find Abyss Cressets in Crimson Desert

Now that you know what Abyss Cressets do, how do you find them on the map? The best way to look for them is to visit high overlooks, such as small mountains, and get to the top of them. More often than not, you’ll find the Abyss Cresset pillar somewhere on the top of the overlook.
If you’ve uncovered a large portion of a region by ringing the bell in the region’s hub town, like Hernand, then you can also look at your map to find large question mark icons. These almost always lead to an Abyss Cresset or something to do with the Abyss in general.
For reference, the bell in Hernand can be found on the western side of town. When you ring the bell, or another hub town’s bell, the entire region will be unfogged on the map, allowing you to see points of interest, question marks, and where settlements are located. This is highly useful for exploration, so we recommend doing that straight away, especially when starting out in Crimson Desert.

Finally, if you want some guidance on where to go, use your character’s light beam ability. This is done by holding LB/L1 + RB/R1. When the ability is active, look around for a bright light. If you see one, head in that direction and you’ll either find an Abyss Cresset or another Abyss object.
And that’s all we have on Abyss Cressets in Crimson Desert. Of course, you’ll want to explore for Abyss Cressets in style, so make sure to check out our other guide on claiming your Deluxe Edition pre-order bonuses.
