You can hope for some good RNG or tackle a Stronghold to get a Tempered Plate Carrier in Warzone 2.0 and armor up more efficiently.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0 have reached Season 3. Naturally, the developers added a ton of new additions to the multiplayer and battle royale modes. One that players are looking forward to most is the Tempered Plate Carrier in Warzone 2.0.

This acts as the Tempered perk did in the first Warzone. When you find one, you can equip it to reduce the number of armor plates needed to be at max armor. You'll have to be confident in your Stronghold taking abilities to get your hands on one.

The Tempered Plate Carrier is one of several new plate carriers in Season 3. This one in particular makes it easier to reach full armor. Typically, you'll need to place three armor plates on your person, if you're at zero, to hit the max.

With the Tempered Plate Carrier equipped, the three armor plates drops down to just two. Instead of three plates at 50 armor a piece, you'll only need to add two plates, which will be 75 armor a piece. It gives the same amount of armor, but takes less time to get it.

How to find a Tempered Plate Carrier in Warzone 2.0 and DMZ

The Tempered Plate Carrier is available in Warzone 2.0, DMZ, and Resurgence. You'll need to have a bit of luck on your side or exceptional skill when it comes to clearing out Strongholds. Here are all the ways you can obtain the new armor-based item:

  • Guaranteed Stronghold reward
  • Loot found on tables or barrels
  • Weapon crates

This is a very rare item in Warzone 2.0 and DMZ, so don't expect to find many lying around on the ground or in a loot crate. Your best bet is to take down one of the many Strongholds that appear on the map. The Tempered Plate Carrier is a guaranteed high-tier loot drop when you've done so.

How to clear a Stronghold

Clearing a Stronghold is much easier said than done. They require a key to enter and are filled with AI enemies who are looking to take you out before you can get your hands on anything good. Use these tips when attempting to clear one:

  • Select a smaller Stronghold to attack and find any windows or openings to eliminate enemies before entering
  • If in a squad, have one draw the enemies' attention, while the rest flank and do damage to their sides and back
  • If solo, aim at the feet of Riot Shield enemies, as the shields will raise when they move closer and allow you to deal damage that way
  • Be cautious and watch for laser tripwires, which will hurt you immensely, but can be disarmed when interacted with

A good tactic is to find multiple Stronghold keys if you are in a squad. With more than one, you can breach into the Stronghold from different entrances and clear it out more efficiently instead of being packed into one area.
