Black Ops 6 is set for EWC, and here are the official pools for the tournament.

It's finally the week of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 at the Esports World Cup (EWC), and the tournament looks to be quite intriguing now that more amateur teams are in the mix. Before the tournament officially begins on Thursday, July 24, you'll want to familiarize yourself with the teams and how the pools look so you can make some proper predictions.

Below, we'll list the official pools for Black Ops 6 at EWC. If you haven't been keeping up with the news around the tournament, you might see a surprise or two with the teams competing. Make sure to also read our guide on how to watch the Black Ops 6 EWC tournament before the event begins.

Official team pools for Black Ops 6 at EWC

Just like last year with MW3, the Call of Duty tournament at EWC will be split into four pools consisting of 16 total teams. This puts four teams in each pool, and only two will make it out of pool play to proceed to the elimination bracket. EWC is a single-elimination tournament following pool play, so there is no loser's bracket in place. This means if your favorite team loses early, they're out of the tournament for good.

Here's a look at how the pools stack up:

Pool A

  • OpTic Gaming
  • G2 Esports (Minnesota ROKKR)
  • Cloud9
  • Five Fears

Pool B

  • Vancouver Surge
  • 100 Thieves (LA Thieves)
  • Gentle Mates
  • Team Orchid

Pool C

  • Boston Breach
  • Movistar KOI (Toronto Ultra)
  • Team Falcons
  • Team WaR

Pool D

  • Team Heretics
  • FaZe Clan
  • OMiT
  • Project 7

As you can see, there are only 11 of the 12 Call of Duty League teams competing at EWC. The Carolina Royal Ravens were disqualified from the event after a misunderstanding about how roster changes worked. The team made one too many roster changes (due to contracts expiring), and EWC made the decision to disqualify them. Carolina has been replaced with Five Fears, an amateur squad consisting of some former CDL pros, including Hicksy.

In addition to Five Fears, Team Orchid, Team WaR, OMiT, and Project 7 are the four other amateur squads in the pools. Project 7 is the same OMiT Brooklyn roster that placed second at CDL Challenger Champs (losing to the other OMiT team). Due to EWC rules, OMiT could only send one team to the event, so Project 7 is temporarily assuming ownership of the roster.

The rest of the pools feature the 11 remaining CDL teams. Just like we saw last year, some teams have been rebranded to their parent company's name. The Toronto Ultra roster is now Movistar KOI, Minnesota ROKKR is G2 Espots, and OpTic Gaming and 100 Thieves are back with their original names as well.

With the unpredictable way the Black Ops 6 season has gone, EWC should be an action-packed tournament with a ton of upsets. Is this the year an amateur team makes it out of pools against the stacked CDL competition? Do FaZe repeat as EWC champions, or can OpTic go for the back-to-back following their Champs win earlier this month? There's also still the incredible 100 Thieves roster to think about as well as teams like the Heretics, Surge, and Breach, who all have shown they have what it takes to reach the grand finals of an event.

All in all, this should be a fantastic tournament, and all the action kicks off at 8 am ET on Thursday, July 24. Make sure to stay tuned to EsportsGG for match recaps, intriguing storylines, and all other EWC news.
