Information and tactical overview
Rebirth Island is a massive area for those who play the Warzone Battle Royale. Checkpoint in MW3, however, condenses it into one mid-sized arena. Let's take a closer look at the map.
The upper walkways and communications tower have been sealed off in this version of the area. That shifts the focus to more ground-based combat. The top left and bottom right of Checkpoint in MW3 are the spawns, with plenty of fun to be had between them.
The Call of Duty blog post detailing the map has an interactable layout for you to toggle spawn names, points of interest, and objective points. Here are the main three points of interest you'll find:
- Road
- Roundabout
- Checkpoint
A center courtyard is more than likely the place you'll make opening contact in a game. It is surrounded by buildings, such as a garage and a hangar. The mix of closed spaces and open lines of sight make Checkpoint a good map for players of all styles.
Tips provided for Checkpoint in MW3 by Call of Duty
As they do with new maps coming into their games, Call of Duty provides a handful of tips for your success. The blog has double digit tips for you, but we've picked just a few of the ones that seem most important.
- Stay Grounded: There are objects and areas to climb on Checkpoint in MW3, but it was built for ground battles. It's size makes it easy for you to push enemies quickly, from many directions. So, maximize mobility here to get the most out of it.
- Watch the Skies: A lot of the map takes place outside. This means, know where the interior areas and other cover are located. Killstreaks from above are a nightmare to deal with. Either have a Launcher ready or run and hide.
- Catch 'Em in the Crossfire: The majority of players will probably look to control the Roundabout. While they do, have your team spread out and take space all over the map. From their, you can pinch the enemy team in the center and unload on them.
