SMGs may not be strong just yet but the Vaznev is a more than viable option.
Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer is finally here. As players look to try and find out what guns are the best, the Vaznev-9k has emerged as a top contender in MW2. Here are the best builds for the Vaznev-9k in Modern Warfare 2.
The Vaznev, which seems to be modeled after the AK-74u model of weapon, is a fast and hard-hitting SMG.
How to unlock the Vaznev-9k
Unlocking the Vaznev can be quite a convoluted process. It's one of the weapons in the game that requires many steps in order to be able to use it. But the gun is definitely one of the more impactful ones in the game.
Before even trying to unlock the gun, players will need to reach Level 23 in their military rank. Players then need to level up three different guns before gaining the ability to use the Vaznev. All the work put in to get the gun is definitely worth it though.
Levels needed to obtain Vaznev-9k
- Reach Level 23 military rank
- Level the Kastov 792 to Level 10 to unlock the Kastov 545
- Get the Kastov 545 to Level 13 to unlock the Kastov-74u
- Level the Kastov-74u to Level 15 to unlock the Vaznev-9k
The new system of unlocking weapons is unnecessarily convoluted. It adds lots of steps that don't seem to be needed to unlock guns that would have been available just by levelling up in previous years.
The best Vaznev-9k build for MW2
Utilising the Vaznev to the best of its abilities means having an interesting approach to the attachments that go on it. Because of the way that some of the attachments work in MW2, it's not ideal to be filling all five of the attachment slots on the Vaznev.
The attachments for the Vaznev quickly become contradictory and detrimental to each other if you fill all five slots. This means that leaving a slot free can actually help the functionality of the gun.
By the time that you have gone through all of the trouble of unlocking the Vaznev, you should have all of the attachments needed to get the most out of the gun.
The attachments:
- Rear Grip: True-Tac Grip
- Muzzle: Bruen Pendulum
- Laser: Schalger Ped Box IV
- Stock: Otrezat Stock
Call of Duty League player Chris "Simp" Lehr has also been using the Vaznev in the early days of MW2. His build is nearly identical to ours except for the fact that his does not use the Schlager Ped Box laser attachment.
We've put it on to help in those situations where you are running around a map needing to combat more than three opponents at the same time.
If you wanted to help yourself even more in those situations then you can even add the extended 45-round mag onto the gun too.
The Vaznev may not be the best gun in MW2, with Assault Rifles appearing to be by far and away the stronger category of weapon in the game's release week. It still is one of the fastest and most lethal SMGs in the game.
