The Chimera assault rifle has some of the best loadout options in MW2, making it a useful weapon in a variety of situations.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 received the Chimera assault rifle when it officially entered its first season. We were all given time to acclimate to the new game with Season 0, but when Season 1 arrived, it was all systems go. That had MW2 players looking to put together the best Chimera loadout to dominate with.
Based on the real-life gun known as the Honey Badger, the Chimera mixes lightweight handling with devastating power. By adding the right attachments to it, you'll have a close-to-mid range assault rifle that holds its own against all others in the category.
How to unlock the Chimera
At first, the Chimera was a part of the Season 1 Battle Pass. Season 1 is long gone, so you won't be able to obtain it as part of that free content opportunity. Instead, you'll have to play a bit of DMZ or rack up some kills with assault rifles in MW2. Thankfully, it is still free.
The first method requires you to find the Chimera in DMZ and extract with it. The second tasks you with netting two Operator kills with assault rifles in 15 different MW2 games. An Operator kill means you have to eliminate an actual player, so AI enemies in a mode like Invasion doesn't count.

Attachments for the best Chimera loadout in MW2
Add the following five attachments to create the best Chimera loadout in MW2:
- Optic: Cronen Mini Pro
- Barrel: 10" SA Phoenix
- Underbarrel: FTAC Ripper 56
- Laser: VLK LZR 7MW
- Stock: TRX-56 Stock
The optic attachment gives it a clean sight that doesn't take up too much of your screen. The lack of bulk and precision picture makes it one of the best in the game. From there, you'll add a group of attachments that boost damage and overall accuracy.
Very small hits to mobility and handling take place, but you shouldn't be too worried with the Chimera. The recoil control, accuracy, range, and damage increases will ensure you down an opponent even if they manage to shoot to first.
