VALORANT's UI is getting some upgrades in Patch 12.05, improving assist satisfaction and observer experience.
VALORANT patch 12.05 introduces changes to the UI that make it easier for players to get information, and even enhances the viewer experience on esports events. Here’s exactly how the new VALORANT UI makes your experience better.
This patch also nerfs some Agents in favor of promoting teamplay, and is reworking part of Lotus as the map rotation changes once again.
New VALORANT UI for assists, status effects
There are a lot of things that can get you assists in the game. From smokes to Killjoy’s turret damage – all of these can net you a +1 on the “I helped my team” column of the scoreboard. Most Agents can get assists from more than one part of their kit, not to mention the damage contribution from just shooting enemies.
In VALORANT patch 12.05, you can now see which ability gave you the assist in real-time.

The above icon appears when you get your assist through damage.

It will show the utility icon if you get it through one of your abilities.

You will also see the same information from the killfeed. This will only be visible for your team. “Assists have always been a huge part of winning rounds, but they’ve never gotten the recognition they deserve. Now they do!” says Riot Games global community manager Kenny “Karnifexlol” Cameron.
The new assist UI is paired with audio feedback to increase satisfaction.
Moreover, your status effects will now be more intuitive and clear. If an effect is positive (healing, combat stim), it will show up on the left side. Negative effects like Decay, Stun, and Slow will now appear on the right side. This is a timely change as the newest Agent, Miks, has healing, stim, and concuss in his kit.

A small change to Spectate will also make the esports viewer and observer experience better. Utility that use the “iPad” or, as Riot calls them, “ability map targeters,” will now show up for spectators. This includes Brimstone’s Sky Smoke, Clove’s Ruse, and Tejo’s Guided Salvo.
That means we wouldn’t be seeing scenes like below anymore, where Tejo just looks like he’s hallucinating and waving to the air.

VALORANT Patch 12.05 is now live.
