Disruptive behavior and the replay system are the standout features of the VALORANT patch notes for 11.06.
The VALORANT patch notes for 11.06 are here with some important information on banwave, the replay system, which is (finally) coming to VALORANT, and some bug fixes across the platforms. Let's check out everything you need to know about the upcoming patch notes.
Banwave and AFK Penalty
According to Riot’s most recent data, the latest VALORANT ban wave removed 40,000 bots over the past six months. On Sept. 15, Leo Del Real, a member of the VALORANT Competitive team, published an article outlining the game’s ongoing efforts to improve its behavior system, beginning with measures against AFKs and queue dodging.
Recent adjustments to the penalties for AFK players and similar disruptive behaviors have resulted in a 20% decrease in the AFK rate for competitive matches and a 6% reduction in Swiftplay mode.
However, after the player's feedback, the team understood how the system failed to identify certain patterns of behavior over time in specific instances, allowing "a small percentage of players to avoid receiving the right level of penalty for their behavior." Here are two examples:
- Players who had frequent, but less severe instances of disruptive behavior. Imagine a player who AFKs for 1-3 rounds every other game, but doesn't have many larger AFKs
- Players who had frequent disruptive behavior, but also played a ton of games. Imagine a player who plays 150 games in a month but AFKs in 15 of them
Although AFK offenders made up less than 1% of active players, they accounted for 13% of all AFK instances across Competitive, Swiftplay, and Unrated modes, prompting the team to take stronger action. While disruptive behavior has already seen a notable decline, the developers emphasized that they will continue refining their systems to combat AFKs and other negative behaviors, ensuring a better overall experience for VALORANT players.
Bug fixes
The VALORANT patch notes for 11.06 don’t include many bug fixes, but players did uncover a rare issue affecting Yoru and Reyna. Under specific circumstances, after using their invisibility abilities, the agents would reappear at their original location once the effect ended. This bug was already fixed by the team.
VALORANT patch notes 11.06
PC only updates
The replay system is finally coming to VALORANT. Players will now be able to replay their own competitive matches, as well as games from other modes, including Unrated, Swiftplay, and Premier. It is not available for custom games. The mode brings free cam, speed controls, and POV controls.
The RawInputBuffer setting has been removed and is no longer configurable. The setting will be
enabled at all times for players because it is more performant.
Console only updates
On consoles, a key issue involved dropped weapons and the Spike being incorrectly highlighted when players were simply nearby, rather than directly looking at them. This fix is scheduled to arrive in patch 11.07. In the bugs section, the team also confirmed that an issue affecting the display of New Player Tips has already been resolved.
