New Agent Miks, Knockout game mode, and Skye's flash back on a recharge? All that and more in VALORANT Patch 12.05.
VALORANT Patch 12.05 will reward teamplay over solo and selfish playstyles, and the changes reflect that. Skye flash is now back on a cooldown, and the “selfish” Agents are getting nerfed. Oh, and Miks is entering as VALORANT’s newest Controller.
This update also brings changes to Lotus and Sage’s in-game model.
Miks and Knockout

Miks is playable Agent number 29, and the seventh Controller to enter the fight. Riot describes him as the “perfect wingman” for the team, and the supportive nature of his abilities certainly reflects that.

A new game mode, Knockout, goes live this patch. Read more about your next warm-up arena here.
Skye buffs, Yoru nerfs in VALORANT 12.05
For 12.05, we’ll be putting our focus on supporting coordinated teamplay and increasing pick diversity across the board. While we do think individual skill really shines when it comes to your gunplay and execution, we still think strategy is best formed as a team and using Agents to work together.

Skye
- Guiding Light is now on a 60-second cooldown
Skye’s flash used to be on a 45-second cooldown. This was then removed in Patch 8.01, in Jan. 2024, after which it did not recharge at all.
Guiding Light back to being on a cooldown increases her viability, especially after the sweep of Initiator changes late last year. The longer cooldown will make Skye players weigh between using a bird to scout and using it to flash an angle.
Yoru
- Gatecrash – Active duration from 30s >> 15s
- Blindside – Charges from 2 >> 1
Yoru was a top Duelist pick, even in professional play. His rotations were oppressive and quick thanks to Gatecrash, and he was “crowding out the viability of flash Initiators and sometimes even Sentinels,” according to Riot Games.
Clove
- Ruse – Smoke duration when casted while dead from 14s >> 6s
- Meddle – AoE reduced 6m >> 4m
Clove is one of the more popular and consistent picks in normal play, and Miks needs some room to maneuver within the meta.
